DOES ANYONE KNOW IF IT RELLY MATTERS IF RAs ARE SOHC AS OPPOSED TO DOHC.
SOME PEOPLE SAY THAT THEY WOULDNT BOTHER MODDING A CAR THAT WAS SOHC. WHATS THE DEAL WITH THAT DOES IT REALLY MATTER, WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK.

tell them you have valve timing, and to stuff it up their hondasses

 

Let them know it has 2 cams... 1 under 3600 for economy and the other one that lets them see your tail pipe!

As you should know cams control valve timing. While dual cams do allow for more precision (particularly at opposite ends of the spectrum), this does not mean that a single cam is not capable of producing nearly the same results. Personally while I think two cams are preferable, half the cams does not mean half the performance or half the power.

 

Don't forget to tell them that the EVO is going MIVEC... DOHC MIVEC but Mivec. That can only be good news for us.

 

Our cars are SOHC Granted we have Mivec.. But Its STILL SOHC.. ASk anyone here and they all say its worth modding.. The RA has ALOT of potential... Just do some research into parts and ask around if you need to know anything.. Everyone,Well most everyone here is willing to help.

 

Sohc are specially great to run Turbo...easier to tune and more efficient than DOCH in some applications

Plus,you gotta admit that a single cam if its high enough makes the car sound like an animal at idle

 

You know what gets me, AEM made cams for the 7thgen civic.... guhhhh, I can't believe that. Here we are complaing about "cams, cams, cams' and a 127hp, 117trq car gets cams???

 

There is way more people driving thos civics than ralliarts. More people driving them means more people buying aftremarket stuff. Plus honda has an insane amount of aftermarket.

 

^^^ yeah, im aware of that... just browsing the civic boards, about 2% of modded civics have AEM cams on the d17. Fact is, unless your heavley engine modded the cams don't do jack standalone wise for the d17 (7thgen civic engine).

 

sohc isn't bad. for the d series performance the hondas are sohc's. Ex's come stock around 130 hp and people are pulling 300 whp out of them with only block gaurds. Daily driver at that. thats a lot for a 1.6.

so I guess you really can't say that sohc isn't worth it. there is a huge after market for the d series. granted the b series (dohc) is the more wanted of the 2. just not as affordible.
