Why mitsu service sucks
Let me start by saying my friend owns the dealership. I get her involved in price and negotiation only and then I leave her alone.
That said, I took my car in for 7500 mile service (which is just an oil change and I was under the impression it would be free) - wrong! Only the in-between oil changes are free. No biggie. I aslo told them about the hesitation at low RPM's coming out of 1st gear as well as the blown right front strut. I explained they need to examine the strut b/c its hard to duplicate the problem unless you hit a raised bump under acceleration.
Well, they test drove it and said the strut was fine - they did not examine it - strike one.
Last week I ran over an orange construction cone which left my wheel alignment mangled - the test driver didn't even notice/mention this at all - strike two.
The hesitation they claim was from a small piece of paper they found in my airbox - which makes sense. Only problem is, the stock air box is in a cardboard box in my garage on a shelf since I removed it when I installed my CAI - strike three.
Finally, the bill for the 7500 mile service: Oil, oil pan gasket, oil filter, BG fuel additive???, and 1 hour labor - $128.00
Suffice to say, I will NEVER go back for service again- even the free ones. The total ineptness is so rediculous I had to laugh to keep from crying.

you mean "stealership."
that sucks man. always find a local mechanic that you trust and who is competent. stay with him/her for every car! they won't dork you around, and you usually get better deals anyway.
other suggestion is to just do it yourself.

The best part is, they didn't even pretend to do anything else, like check wipers, rotate tires, lube door hinges etc. Straight oil change ($88/hour labor).
Can someone tell me what BG fuel additive is and why they would add it w/o asking me (its $30!) - is it supposed to help lube my *** before I get the bill?
I'm installing my Tein coilovers in a week or 2, but I wanted a new strut. Maybe after the install I'll bring them the shot strut and demand a replacement.

Every dealership is different, and it looks like you got a bad one. If you have the 3 year free maintenence plan, then all regular maintenence (every 7500 miles) is free. If you have that plan, you shouldn't have had to pay this time around. 7500 mile maintenence should also include a tire rotation and visual inspection (which includes suspension). This should all be listed in the literature you got when you bought your car.
I would first go back to the dealership and make them look at the strut. Some of the stock struts have developed leaks, and your's probably did, too. They will see this when they do a visual inspection. If they give you more crap and don't help you, your options are to try another dealership (if there's another one nearby) or to take it up with Mitsu.
As for the additive.. I don't know what the laws are in NY, but I know in Michigan it's required for mechanics to give you an itemized estimate BEFORE they touch your car, that way you know what you're paying for. If you didn't ask them for the additive or sign something saying it was okay for them to put it in, I'd raise hell about it.

good luck taking that strut in. :\ I think they might have a problem with you working on the car and getting free replacements. Im not sure though? maybe they won't have a problem with it.
I'm sorry hearing about the hose job that SATAN (dealership) had done to you.
No new car should ever need any fuel additive. We all know those bottles don't cost 30 bucks at Pep Boys.
Worse case scenario that had happened to my friend owning a previous gen sentra. Get 4 brake pads fixed at the dealership = end price of +500 bucks worth of repair. He couldn't bail his car out for weeks.

This is also the same dealership I am suing for fraud.

I HATE dealerships that try to **** you around with financing. I didn't have any problems with my dealership. Though considering I am a Business Manager at another dealership so I have an acurate knowledge of how Satan(dealership that raped you) works.
I know all dealerships suck, but I thought all the oil changes were free as long as you own the car. Plus all scheduled maintenance for first three years is free. I know my old 2002 OZ had oil changes every 3,000 miles, but now starting in 2004 it's like every 3,700 miles. Anyway, You have got to find a new dealership man, your getting ripped off.
