Thumbs up Installed AEM SRI Today

Hey guys...Well I did it! I installed an AEM SRI today on my RA. Really nice! You can feel the engine saying, "Thanks for letting me breathe!" I got the anodized blue tube. Looks great!

On a scale of 1-10... 1 being a small difference... 10 being a big difference... what would you rate the gain (using a butt dyno)?

Well here's my rating, on a scale of 1-10. Unfortunately id only give it a 2 or 3. Good sound though.

Why such a low rating?

Damn... 2-3???!!! I'd expect that kind of rating from a K&N drop in filter! I give my RRM CAI an 8-9 on the mod scale!

I'll agree with that, I installed the RRM SRI yesterday. Nice sound and it seems to rev easier. But does anyone have dyno sheets for this/any SRI? Almost feels like I lost some off-idle torque The cool thing is you can hear exactly when MIVEC switches. It's a quiet hiss until 3500, but right then it gets louder and deeper. At redline it's really cool

I just installed my AEM short ram intake which replaced a RRM CAI. I feel no difference in power between the two. Maybe when the temperature starts to go up, there may be a little bit of a difference.
The AEM setup, uses the stock front plastic tube to help suck air directly from outside the car, straight to the filter. I'll have to post pics to show what I mean or perhaps RalliartRev could post pics.
But compared to the stock air box and filter, once I installed my intake and cat back exhaust, I noticed quite a difference, especially for some reason when I use higher grade gas like 89 or 91

Since it uses the stock tube, I'm definitely interested in seeing pics. Does it replace everything and connect directly to the intake manifold?

a bit off topic, but with the ingen in the short ram configuration, you lose a lot of power under 3000.. over 3500 it just rips

i am putting on the rest of the piping today, so I will see what the difference is

if i didn't get a CAI, i would definitely NOT get a SRI.. my stock intake with the K&N drop in was better than the SRI configuration

How do you know? Butt dyno or did you actually dyno it?

no i didn't actually dyno it

i have tuned 5 v-afcs by driving them around for a few days, and on the last day i would take it to the dyno, i would be 90% correct in the settings. so I think I can feel when my car doesn't make the same power in the same range..

I don't race my car and I'm not too excited about 5 more horsies... so it's almost not worth spending all that money for a little more noise and so I can say that I have it... but I would like to be able to say I have it... how about some pics anyone
