Ive been challenged! 97 Stang

This guy challenges me with his friends car. Lame. But anyways, he says its an auto 97 mustang and hes got a chip to allow it to redline farther and he claims it adds 30hp. THEN he says hes got his turbo and hes putting it in, he expects 300-400 hp. Other than that his car is stock, except for the occasional strobe lights. I didnt really get much info about what all his kit came with. I dont even know if its a v6 or v8. Im goona run him no matter what but what do you think? I know that if its just a turbo. . . oil cooled stage one or whatever, that hes not goona be puttin 300hp, but do you think he still might win? FEEDBACK

it's not how you stand by your car, it's how you drive it.

it can't be a very good/big turbo putting down 300 hp on a V8, he'll be waisting his money on a V6. Maybe 400 hp but on stock internals? He might have that hp half way down the track than he'll melt. But I don't know that much about Fords so I could be wrong. It's worth a try...

actually a stock 4.6L can handle 450-500hp w/stock internals. But anyway, the guy sounds like a complete jack@$$ and has no idea what he is talking about..

if its a V6 auto... they are simple to beat. i beat one sooo hard! it seriously wassnt funny... yeah it was! this was a rolling start to in second gear. i gave a rolling start since you cant really launch with an auto.

chances are he is talking about a v6 otherwise it would be a even more complete waste of a race since even the auto stock v8 should still beat buy you a buy a little bit but with a turbo those things can move and you will be destroyed. if its a stock auto v6 then you should win, but he isnt stock.

Well even the stockers car run pretty damn fast with a V8. With an auto all he has to do is stand on it once he gets traction. If you're still stock with no serious power adders I think your toast. Not hating on your skill or anything, slush boxes just don't miss shifts. The rustang cobra I ran was turning 14.6 but I don't know what mods (if any) he had. With nitrous at a mile high track I was turning 14.8's... With more practice I might have dropped another .5 sec but that's the downside of a stick, you have to find the launch point AND the right shift points. Good luck with it, you might be able to out drive him but don't expect to outdrive every rustang you meet, some of them are driving enthusiasts too!

I smoked a V6 stang that had I/E and it was a 5spd. They suck. I also beat a 4.6 V8. I should have lost but that guy sucked at driving. He had a hard time launching and shifting both. If it's a V6 you should have nothing to worry about.

Piggyback ECU if you can afford it. You'd kick his *** with one of those. Takes full advatage of those other mods you did.

I think posting on this forum voids your warranty!!! From what I understand, if the dealership didn't install it, it voids your warranty. One of the Scooby dealers was telling me how the dealer (same owner) brags about how many denied claims he makes a month! I just give up and do what I want now. I'll try to keep it up for appearance sake but I don't expect to ever get a successful claim, ever.

So go ahead and SPRAY!!!!! $500 will get you a NX Mainline system with money to spare.
