Kinked downpipe?

4 Come back a little bit later and say "I don't know what happened but this section fell off"
5 thank the man very nicely, pay the bill and enjoy.
This may require working a couple different muffler shops against each other and Midas and Meineke don't rate being called a muffler shop imho...

That works too. I'd imagine you'd have to remove the pipe for that yourself. I was looking to keep my hands clean on this one
. If you find an independant shop, they usually don't care too much. They're more worried about removing the cat completely and word getting back that they did it vs a different section of pipe that retains the rest of the factory emmisions equipment. I guess it just depends on where you live and how much luck you can swing that day!

I found one that did it.
Nevertheless, I'm going with the RRM DP. It was just an experiment to see what would happen.

I don't know if the added distance before the 2:1 coupler on the RRM pipe makes any difference, but their's looks a ton smoother.

I'm not really sure because I got a new muffler at the same time, so everything sounded louder, which made it SEEM like I got more power. Plus, I think they welded 3" tubing in to replace the crushed section (it really is crushed... if you ever get the chance take that covering off and you'll see). So I had stock DP - 3" section - stock catback - Magnaflow. Not the ideal flow.
That same shop welded a metal strap onto my muffler to hold it in place. My buddy at Apex, where I take my car most of the time, said he'd never seen anything like it. Idiots. But hey, they are willing to break the law so I can't complain too much.

I recently installed a megan exhaust myself... and the muffler shop that did it used pieces of 2.5 pipe to get the job done.... the pipe wasnt mendral bent.. instead is was just welded at angles which in my opinion probably restricted flow.
Since then, I can hear a weird noise coming from the flex pipe...as if something inside came loose ... I posted a question regarding that noise on here ... and got a few responses... (DP needs to be replaced... cost $800)
Seems like the kink in the downpipe and restricted muffler weld, caused the flex pipe to blow.... (for lack of better words).
I also had to get the muffler replaced because it had a leak in between the packing, could this have been caused by the same restricted flow?
I'm goign to the muffler shop tomorrow, and getting my new megan installed but this time I would like to ask for something with the correct flow, can you guys suggest something... ohh one other thing... the muffler shop who did my first exhaust.. they cut my muffler off and welded the new one... and at the same time threw all my original equipment away .. so I dont have the option of swappign my exhaust to get my DP replaced with factory warranty... which sucks... I have no choice but to pay lots of cash for custom exhaust install now.. but at least it will be done right this time around.
Any suggestions on what kind of set-up I should be looking for. Not sure the RRMs DP would be an option... but I might go ahead and order that too.....

Get the RRM DP and that'll fix your problem in the flex pipe area, and get rid of the hack job. If you need a cat, have the shop weld one into your mid-pipe, then all you have to do is extend your O2 wires to reach the back of it. Everything else should be fine, including the megan muffler.
if I do get the downpipe.... without cat... will my car still pass the emissions and inspections? Im in VA ... and they are **** about all the stuff. Im suprised I havent gotten a ticket ... because I had to wait several weeks for a muffler and in the mean time I been driving with nothing.. just pipe hanging.
You will not pass emissions... This is why I'm having a hi-flow cat welded in... You should see the inside of my exhaust so charcoal black it's dirty!!! The second O2 sensor reads too much crap...!!!

Not sure about emissions here in AZ. If I fail next time I go through I'll get a high-flow ASAP and slap it in... at a reputable shop this time.
OK first off sorry for bringing up an old post. But first off it is not illegal for a muffler shop to touch anything before the converter ( i do it all day ). I also took that crushed piece of pipe out and and welded in a 2.25 piece. As far as power gains didnt notice much.
