Arrow Exhaust leak!! And question

This is an on going problem for my car. From my RRM header to where the flange meets to the other flang to the rest of the exhaust. It dosent seat right. Even no matter how many gaskets and no matter how much i tighten down the bolts. The gasket still burns out from the frount of the flange and the rear of it. The sides are fine. So it seems like to me the flanges are oval shaped and not sitting up right. I like in Oceanside, anyone know a good shop where i can get it fixed, for good. I'm about to just weld the damn thing together.

Another question for you guys. From the flange from the header to the next flange, that section of the pipe. It the 90' pipe and it kinda has some bends in it and flat looking spots. Has anyone replaced that with just a stright pipe with no bends or kinks in it?
Is this a good idea to replace it with a stright pipe? Also will it do anything as sound/peformace wise. The rest of my exhaust is test pipe to Greddy Cat-Back.

i talked to RRM about it...it may looked smashed but it pushes the same volume of air as the cylinder piping...ther a motto floating around here..."is rrm doest make it, then you probly dont need it."

if someone has mesaured this for volume and im wrong correct me.

thats what RRM says, and thats what they try to sell their customers, but ask anyone who has a downpipe upgrade (either via rrm and buschur or full header setup) and they'll tell you different. the stock dp is a huge restriction, and if you have the rrm header and grab the buschur dp, you'll notice the difference especially high end

also, look at it this way: rpw, the BEST and most knowledgable lancer guys make a header with long runners replacing the downpipe, so obviously there are gains to be had

For your leaks... make sure your flange is straight and flat. You might want to sand it down a bit to make sure.

What should i use to file it down with sand paper or a metal file? And what do you suggest putting in there for a gasket? Like what kind of good material to get.

How can you guys tell you have a leak? I'm all nervous now since I have an RRM header. Whats the best way to tell if I am leaking at the header/downpipe connection without having to get under the car?

Oh, you'll hear it. Both at idle and driving. The exhaust becomes much louder.

When mine get big enough (yes, I've had many), you can actually hear the air escaping at higher revs - sounds like a wastegate, to be honest.

Perhaps my dilemma is then lack of experience. I'm not exactly sure what I should be hearing. When driving, whenever I hit the gas, I hear something that kind of sounds like air escaping or whistling, but I've heard that is a common sound for having an CAI and header. Thoughts?

This is distinctive. To be honest, it's one of those "when you hear it, you never forget it" sounds. Maybe have someone with experience listen as well.

When the car idles, is it loud? Like, way louder than it should be?

No, its still pretty quiet. I have the "normal" injector sounds, and a belt sound, but nothing else really "out of the ordinary".
