Angry Got popped: ticket help?

I got cited for speeding and "exhibition of speed". The exhibition of speed charge has a "criminal" check mark next to it, as opposed to the speeding charge which has "civil" checked off. I don't know if the cop was using radar or not, but my detector didn't go off so I doubt he was. Any advice on this on how to beat this? I have to appear in court in a few weeks and I plan on pleading not guilty.

p.s. I can get to 60 mph in second gear now... THEORETICALLY, officer.

VASCAR, laser, ESP, or even a simple stop watch. There are numerous ways for the police to determine your speed without using a radar gun

Did the officer ever say "tracking" to you. If he did he is required by law to go threw a class to teach officers how to "visually track" a car and give an approximation of speed. They can only give these tickets if that office completed the course, ask the PD for the officers credentials, or wait for court and wait for the officer to respond.

I have gone thru this numerous times, usually the city doesn't want to further fund the PD's because of budget problems.

Arizona doesn't have any of that crap. They care more about revenue than safety or enforcing the law. The only thing you can do is plead not guilty and hope the judge likes you.

One word: lawyer. The time I retained one he actually cost me less than the ticket AND got my case dismissed...

I had a firebird before my RA and I got caught doing 106 on a 55. That's a $2000 speeding ticket and I needed a 200 dollar bail. They checked me off as intent to kill and called it a misdemeanor. Anyways I got a lawyer for $750 and basically got my charges dropped in 6 months. All you need to know is that it is going to be a battle! Have fun and get a lawyer!

I third the lawyer- this is too big for you to handle on your own. Contact some of your local racing groups (SCCA/other autocross, road course track racing, drag racing) and see if they don't already have a list of traffic-infraction friendly lawyers.

It will be cheaper in the long run and 1000X more effective than you trying to fight this on your own.

You guys don't really understand Arizona's "criminal" traffic laws. In the state of Arizona, doing more than 10 mph over the posted speed on the freeway is "criminal" speeding. I have gotten criminal speeding tickets before, and all it means is a bigger fine and more points.

Did you understand that I got a misdemeanor. That means up to a year in jail. Not sure what's worse than a $2000 speeding ticket and 1 year in jail. To top it off I got it all cleared.
