Interference

Anyone know if the 4G69 is an interference or non-interference engine? Busted a valve in our RSX (what a mess). But it's a non-interference engine and has a timing chain. I know the 2.4L has a belt, wondering if valves get smashed if the belt breaks?

belt or chain does not determine if you have a non-interfance or interference engine

most japanese cars have interferance engines.. so that would be my guess

chain or belt have nothing to do with the valve smashed...it a question about the place between head and block...and I know that our engine is planned more than the 2.0 block , for increase the compresssion...so we have a good chance to make a hit with valve and piston if the belt break...

if i'm wrong on something correct me

Yes I know belt/chain makes no difference, but with a chain it doesn't matter very much since the chain breaking is quite rare, and a chain usually makes noise before it lets go. With a belt, you have to know if it is interference or not so you know if it's ok to go past the belt change interval. I also did a search and the posts in the past weren't clear. Just a bunch of people saying "i think"
But someone here said interference, so that's what i'll go by. Thanks.
