Its not like i get to track my car very often so i guess maybe its just practice? haha

Well it is usually used before a corned.. but the point is to be in the powerband and in gear ready to go..

You can use this even when slowing down. when traffic picks back up you can be on the gas easy and already be in your powerband because you kept it in sync while slowing down.

heres a step by step of how to heel and toe in racing
1. begin breaking, using the ball of your right foot on the brake pedal hwile keeping a small portion of the right side of your foot on the gas pedal but not pushing yet.
2. depress the clutch pedal while maintaining braking
3. downshift while maintaining braking
4. while continuing braking and w the clutch pedal depressed, pivot your right foot at the ankle, quickly pushing or 'blipping' the throttle (revving the engine)
5. ease out the clutch while maintaining braking
voila!

in the street completly useless... imho

I do it all the time, but I like to do things backwards so I use my heel on the brake and toe for the gas.

Useless? I think not.

I figure it's better to have more control over the throttle than the brake, that's why i do it, I cant control my heel as well as I can control my toes

gas is $2.20 here. I can't afford to do it while daily driving. I'm now shidting at 2500 rpms too. Sucks! But its still fun on the twisty roads.

I would kill to have gas prices so low. I generally pay $2.82 a gallon for Cali 91 **** water.

You can also keep your foot upright and on the right side of the brake pedal and use the right half of your right foot on the gas. For me it seems less awkward. Racing pedals (ones that are actually a little wider) would make it even easier.

I did it constantly for awhile just to learn how to do it. Now I only do it to show off. It really makes the exhaust call out when coming into a corner or coming up to a light.

I've been wanting to learn this for a good while now... and now that I got racing pedals as a gift, I think I'll have to give it a try. I can't see why I wouldn't be able to learn this... and it sounds like fun. Plus, I'd like to get into SOLO II next year (if I can afford some tires and wheels).

It's mostly used when approaching a turn, so you can be on the brake and rev-match a downshift at the same time.

I've never seen it done with the heel on the gas and toe on the brake, though.
