possible 2.4 DOHC engine for lancer
It says the SUVs will get the 2.4L MIVEC engine? Meaning we get the 3 cylinder beater that has been turbocharged to make it at least worth buying? : / I'm not really happy with it if they're gonna apply it to compact cars in 2006. Lancers are cousins(economy counterparts) to the evos and yet we don't get the agressiveness that our older cousin has? Compared to the cobalts who are cousins to their performance chevys, the lancer is almost out of the game: /. 2.4L DOHC aluminum block, resin cover, turbocharged engine? hell yeah!!!!! for the lancer. 3 cylinder Mivec? umm hello? they even disgrace the evos. Might as well not call the lancers cousin of evos then.... It will tarnish the evo's name. just my 02
the 3cyl is for the minicars (little 2-seaters, no trunk...like a super golf car for the city) that are popular in china and parts of europe. not the US. we wont see that engine. google for minicar and ull see what i mean. mitsu is making minicars for toyota (or is it nissan?) and this it he prob the engine they are using.
dunno compared to lancer cedias, they are much better looking than something here in the US. Do they sell outlanders in asia and europe? i think they have better like pajeros or something. 2.4L engine for SUVs for US consumer sounds about right for Mitsu to be doing it. what about engine for US sedans?
That would be pretty sweet if they put a DOHC MiVec in the new lancers. But that kind of sucks for us that have the SOHC MiVec motors. Oh, well, I dont think they will do it.
If you read down further it's actually DOHC and it's smaller... i don't know how they managed it. The Turbo will be a bugger to install... but it will give more room for a larger turbo and Cold air.
Don't know if you guys know... but there is a rumor (gotta refind my sources) that there is a 2.4L DOHC MIVEC in the states... it's a rebadge motor and it's released in a non-mitsubishi...

- EDIT: Don't mind the "v6 badge", there is an i4 version in the GL model.

Why would Toyota have Mitsubishi build their engines?!?! It doesn't make much sense to me... are you sure this is not just a weird rumour? If you tell me you've verified the source and it's legit, I'll take your word for it though... but I'm kinda baffled by this.

. The sonata is a hyundai, not a toyota. Remember, the new joint deal between them and mitsu on the new ENGINES. Oh yeah, hyundai rebadge it... it's MIVEC, but there calling it "VVT".

Damn, I feel like an idiot! I got Sonata and Corolla mixed up! I must admit I don't know much about either cars though... you can imagine why.
Hey, I've just thought of a perfect newb question! Here it goes:
Is this engine so similar to the 4G69 that a swap is possible? Are any of the components swapable?
