So it has the I but the VTEC sure was missing
I crashed mine on purpose.....ok not really.....but i'm kind of glad I did because I got the RA instead.
I had no idea hyundai was using mitsu engines.

Got a site that explains more about the RSX's VTEC?, doesn't sound like I understand it all

I too was a RSX owner previous to the RA. Good car...but seriously lacked torque.
Anyways, back on topic. I would think w/ the new head being a DOHC it would respond a bit better to simple breathing mods as well as have a little more room for timing control. We can hope anyways.

ALL the 2 liter non-turbo DSMs made from 90-94 had 4G63s in them. I would say there were more non-turbo 4G63s out there than turboed ones.
It wasn't until the 95 model year that they started putting the 420A into the non-turbo DSMs.
i looked up the specs on the sonata gl 2.4L 162HP @ 5800RPM 164TQ @4250RPM looks like it's not that strong, and i don't think the ralliart is going to have this motor any time because the new gs eclipse has the same motor as us.

Good link adamra.
Skimmed through a lot of this post, but just to reiterate, the new MIVEC will be SOHC, according to everything I have read.
4G63 was offered in NA trim
and some people say the Hyundai valve covers are sexier than the Mitsu ones.

Either way, a step in the right direction.

If you go to StreetFire, you will find the video of Hyundai Excel with 4g63 (I think) and spanking a viper truck

Here is an Excel featured on SSC.

Basically older 4g63s are swapable on Hyundai cars.

Look what I found:
New DOHC 2.4L Dodge Caliber Engine

One of the engine choices for the U.S. market will include: a DOHC top-of-the-line 2.4-liter with DVVT (intake and exhaust).
Debuting in the 2007 Dodge Caliber, the Chrysler Group World Engine family is targeted to improve fuel efficiency by five percent compared with the engines they replace -- rivaling the best four-cylinder engines in the world.
New DOHC 2.4L MIVEC Engine

The new 4-cylinder 2.4-liter MIVEC engine employs MMC's proprietary intake and exhaust cylinder head port design and intake/exhaust systems to deliver best-in-class output power and torque. The engine uses MMC's proprietary MIVEC variable valve timing system, a double-wall stainless exhaust manifold and a high-performance catalytic converter to deliver outstanding mileage and emissions performance.
As a result, the new powerplant achieves a more than 5% increase in output over the current 4G69-type 2.4-liter MIVEC engine.
My Take: Do they look similar? Do they sound similiar? The new caliber will have a rebadge 2.4L DOHC MIVEC motor with LIFT on both intake and exhaust.
P.S. I don't care about the new dodge, I just want that new MIVEC motor! Now that it will apply a true LIFT phase cars like the GTS or Type-S will no longer be a problem.
Torque + Lift = OWNED
