Lancer Ralliart as a first car?

You guys think is ok if I get a Ralliart as my first car? Is not as expensive as a EVO and not too cheap. I am looking for something that's between economical and sporty. However, a lot of people tells me that I should get a used car instead, since it's my first car. What do you guys think?

I think your parents should buy me a new car, and you can have one of my old ones. My first car was a used Escort, and had about 80hp.

I'd say start with a nice 2002 OZ Rally, manual transmission, then after you beat on it for a couple years, trade up to something like a Ralliart. It's not a hard car to drive, but it is a bit more demanding than the OZ, and it's quick enough to get you in trouble.

You may be a good driver for a 16 or 17 year old, but I've never seen anyone (including myself) that just jumped in a car at 16 and was a truly good driver.

i think yes because it can be fun to learn how to take care of a mid-range performance vehicle, and no - because if you dont take care of said vehicle, then it could be a harsh experience.

I had a gradual upswing...

1988 Chevrolet Corsica
1987 Pontiac Firebird
1995 Pontiac Trans Am (LT1) (1986 Tercel in winter)
1998 Pontiac Trans Am (LS1) (1986 Tercel in winter)

..then real life hits - bills, insurance, starting a business....winter....

2004 Mitsubishi Ralliart

i would say go for it! just keep in mind that nothing is worth your life, so dont go out and do stupid stuff. if u want to do stupid stuff, take it to the track. i would say no as ur very first car that you have EVER driven i.e. u just got a permit, and ur gonna drive it around to practice driving. but if uve gotten ur liscense im sure u know how to drive somewhat, so get a ralliart! its a fun car! i love my friends ralliart and im sure you will.

Ah thank you everyone for your input. Hahah no worries, I am not going to go crazy ( ie street racing). I just want a decent ride and have that sporty feeling when driving.

1st car, 1st standard car driven, 1st car driven on the city roads and hiways! No accidents here (live in a small city). Yet, I would recomend you drive your parents car for about 6 months before getting your own car especially when you live in a city. I think its a waste of money buying a used car for a 1st car. Just drive carefully and drive slow and you should be fine. I am not a good driver myself but i drive very cautious. Just don't do dumb stuff. If your get into an accident, just get a body kit.
