Need Some info from those involved in rear end collisions

well, last thursday i was sitting in traffic waiting for a train to pass. after the train was gone the light turned and the guy in the SUV behind me decided that he wanted to move before the rest of traffic infront of me did. well needless to say, crunch. my poor rear bumper. whoopee, nice crease in the bumper on the drivers side. the trunk is shifted to the right now, not by much but enough to notice.

I guess what i am getting at here is for thosse that have been hit, what kinda price ranges were you quoted for you damage. i'm just looking for ball park figures so i have an idea on what i might be looking at. i'll post pics later when i get a chance.

Pics:

Tailamp is slightly out of position.

Under the bumper.

Mine was hit about a month ago in a parking lot- hit and run ftw. Bumper was pushed down and dented. The lower part of the bumper was crunched pretty good. The first estimate was 800, but after they "fixed" it twice I am still unhappy. My adjuster has to come estimate again for a new bumper- prolly looking at 1200 then.

In your case , you shouldnt be looking at anything. Get on his insurance's ***, get their estimate. If you dont like theirs get your own at an independant garage. Tell them you want a nice rental too. Enterprise carrys mazda 3's now- fun cars to beat

new bumper and paint: $511.

took them 4 tries to get the paint to match. going back again next week. had the car out of paint for maybe three GD hours before someone hit it in a parking lot and drove off. nailed the freshly painted bumper.

yeah, i will definatley have the work done at my shop. they're the only people i trust with my baby.

the kid that hit me was 19. after i got out of my car to see the damage, i looked at the kid looked at my bumper, pointed at my tail lights and said "Do you see these, when red the F'n mean stop" his mom showed up 10 mins later. i think i scared him. she kept saying that she didn't know if she was going to turn it into her insurance bc she was worried about her premium. Tuff i am turning it in and i will get a nice rental, i have been thinking about a mazda 6, but the 3 looks fun if i have to settle for it.

$2800 for me, but my entire trunk collapsed, both 1/4 panels were gone. pretty much everything up to the rear axle was crunched. 3 months of labor.... seems like this was more of a scratch in comparison just take it to a dealer /w a repair shop and let them handle it. dont try to get rich on it
