Not a single drop. I got a new concrete driveway this Spring, so I check it often. I'm quite happy with it. It takes a little longer to drain than just removing a plug, but it's MUCH neater.

I was somewhat worried about it opening by itself if something hit it (road debris), but after seeing how it opens I'm not worried anymore. It's been a year and 41,500 miles since i put it on, and not a single problem.

Which Mobil 1 did you get? They have one now that will last 15,000 miles. you dont need to change your oil every 3000, in fact, the manual recommends every 6,000 I think under normal driving. I used the 15k Mobil1 last time but I'm not gonna go THAT far...even tho they say it's guaranteed.

The manual says 7500 miles with normal driving. Well, their idea of normal is definitely NOT the way I drive. The severe use covers it, though, so I change mine every 3750.

If you're going to use a full synthetic like Mobil 1, or Amsoil, I would run at the 7500 mile interval. I would be more worried about the filter at 7500 miles, than the synthetic oil. If you're sticking with the 3750 mile OCI, don't even waste your money with synthetic, just stick with dino oil, like Mobil Clean 5000. If you autocross, or race consistantly, you might want to shorten these numbers. The days of 3000 mile OCI's are long gone, thanks to better engine and oil design and manufacture. I know we have the "peace of mind" and "cheap insurance" mantras in our minds, but it's time to break free. Heck, if you have the 10/100 powertrain warranty, as long as you can prove OCI's at 7500 miles, you're fine. I personally put Clean 5000 in at 3750, and when I reach 7500, I'm going to Amsoil 5W-30 and run at 7500 mile intervals, using the best filter I can get. I don't frequently drive in inner city gridlock, so I'm not concerned about severe service interval. When I dump the Amsoil, I plan on doing a used oil analysis, and I will post the results. I anticipate plenty of the additives package still present. Joe.

Just did the first oil change on the Sportback. I was glad the fliter was right up front, not the back of the engine (Focus) or under a little plastic cover (Elantra)

I ran Mobil 1 in my Focus, drove it fairly hard, changed oil at 7500 intervals ( Ford recommended 5000) and never had a problem. No usage between changes, no leaks, no blow-by, nothing after 45000 (40,000 on synthetic)

Unless you do a lot of hard driving (stop and go, dusty, auto-x,etc.) using synthetic will get you well beyond 7500 miles. 3000 mile oil changes are just ridiculous. I use dino oil in my old Aerostar and still go 5000 miles between changes.

Of course, the Aerostar burns a quart every 1000 (maybe 1500) miles, so at 5000 miles, only the filter is that old

Seriously, 3k oil changes waste your time and oil. As good as engines are now ( most of them anyway) 5000 miles is the earliest I change my oil on any car. Step up to synthetic ( full synthetic, not a blend) and 10,000 miles between changes is possible. Just be sure to use a premium filter.
