Replacing Infinity head unit?

I was thinking to myself how much I hate having that Infinity logo all over the (rather bland looking) head unit. I was wondering if its possible to change the head unit to another brand (I.E. Alpine, Kenwood, Blaupunkt, Onkyio, etc.) and have the speakers still work well?

Is that possible? I don't know much about speaker wiring.

I'd love to do this also keep the speakers but replace the HU.. especially if I could put one of those dvd players with the retractable 7-8" screens with Mp3 playback HU's in. To boot it all off.. I still want my 6 disc CD changer to work.... hehehe... am I dreaming?

I can't see how you could control your Infinity changer with an aftermarket HU. If you do find a way, please post about it... but it would probably be more costly than simply buying an aftermarket changer anyway.

is the infinity HU a cd changer? I honestly haven't even looked at it since I have been unable to get my amp and sub replaced until this saturday (they got ripped off at the auction lot)

I've always wondered this. did the 04s have it or just the 05s? If so how does it work, cause from what I can see it looks like a regular single cd player to me, is the changer supposed to be in the trunk?

I can take pics of what I'm rockin to show you what I mean. I have no idea what I'm supposed to have in this thing. (The dealership report that I saw on the computer there said CD Changer, but I had no idea where or how this was supposed to work).

any pictures of what you guys are talkin about to help me figure out my deal would be greatly appreciated

The changer is an option... the HU has to control it though.

Its just the stock Infinity setup, the amp and sub were jacked after I bought it before auction. They are getting replaced saturday. I'm curious where to look to see if there was ever a cd changer (if it was in the trunk) like screw holes and/or wires. where to investigate to see if that was ripped off too

Question

-

Didn't you say they would install an aftermarket system as a replacement?

I think the changer installs in the glovebox... but I'm not 100% sure. Maybe some guys who bought it can correct me on this...

they were gonna except from what they said, the rewiring and work put into it would be more work that spending the extra loot on the infinity stuff (thats why it didn't get fixed yet, they had to hunt down all the stock parts).

So anyways, once I figure out this changer thing, I'll finally be done with all that ****

I can't find a bigger picture than this to compare to mine. But I swear my CD Player looks just like this one

It installs in the cubby underneath the AC controls.
