It's not too late to switch. I started putting synthetic in one of my old cars at 80k, and had no problems.

They really didn't have a reason other than Ralliarts don't need it, and the car isn't spec'd for it.

I get free oil changes as long as I own my car, they won't even do it if I pay them to do it.

They also refuse to do any aftermarket installs, except of course when you get in an accident and they charge you a **** load for them.

One quick thing to sneak in after the close - Many dealerships will use your preferred oil if you bring it in with you. Leave it in your front seat and ask them to use that. They'll do it because they're saving money by not using their own oil.
