Angry Random B1tching about our aftermarket companies

Im just sitting here rummaging through the ralliart forums an im getting this ill feeling that some of you all my have gotten or have now.I dont wanna make this sound like a hit out to the aftermarket companies cause its kinda a double sided ax in the deal. Im reading about these kits for our cars an aftermarket componets for our engines an im reading post from people saying "yea i want that" an "thats a great price!" to these few companies that can sell u aftermarket support for our cars. Granted i am gratefull that they decided to make parts for our cars an hell ive bought a bunch. But it really dawnd on me when i got my SRI from RRM, I opend my package an i got basically a short tube of metal with a bracket an a filter with no instructions or anything (not that i needed any but some others might) an i thought WTF? I just paid 159 for this? an i see the CF covers for our engines for over 100+ dollars an kits for our bodies well over a grand? Hell the turbo kit costs about as much as a 1/3 of our whole car!!!Granted its supply an demand so they can charge whatever an they know were gunna buy it because we love our vehicles but jeez do they gotta rape us??There are parts for other vehicles for way less.I do love my parts but u aint gunna b seeing me say "Thanks man! Your the best!" When i just got raped for a small tube of metal an a filter that i could almost fabricate myself but im jus too lazy. Feel free to discuss an mods if u feel im outta line delete this im jus a little lit an ill.(sorry for the short poorly written story its been a while. Just my 2 cents

It is true that our selection is slim but we just don't have much choice.

gotta pay for R&D. Other car parts are cheaper (i.e. Honda Civic) because those cars have had time in the market and are fairly familiar with aftermarket companies, whereas the Ralliart is fairly new.

painting them is different than those cheap *** covers. when painting them, you actually take them apart and paint the chrome black, not the outside, which would cause the lights to be dimmer.

Exclamation

I feel the exacty same way. Parts are here and far. Even specific parts for N/A cars are scares for ours. I blame the lancer evolution model (not the owners). Not that a bunch of companies would make parts for our cars, but since the evolution drop companies focus much, much more on it. Even if companies saw the potential behind the 4g69 MIVEC it still wouldn't make a difference it seems like.

Makes me wonder, should I jump ship...

It's all supply and demand. There really isn't much demand for parts on Ralliarts as there are very few Ralliarts on the road. Maybe only 15% of the people who say "I want that!" and get a company to make a part actually come through a buy it. If more people buy parts and create more demand, companies will step up the supply, and prices should go down. If you want cheap parts, you either have to make them yourself or go to a more popular car, like a Honda.

I've never been to into modding, and it seems to me we have a decent, if expensive, selection...

...I gotta admit tho, it did sting to look through a tuner parts catalog at my buddies house last night and not see one Lancer or Ralliart specific part.

Well, I *have* been considering making and selling solid motor mounts for the RA. I could buy them, fill them, and still sell them for about half of what RRM gets for a set. I'll be filling mine with urethane probably this weekend to see how it goes.

amen to that
example be:
when you ask act for a clutch they reply the email:
"we dont have demand on those that is why we do no t make them"
when you ask crane cams, the same, eddelbrock, the same, apexi the same...
we as a group should be asking for parts weekly to them so THEY get intrest on making them

when i bought the ralliart, i saw a car with lots of potential. it was young and i had all kinds of plans that i couldnt make happen on my own. well, im starting to understand the aftermarket industry and coming to the sad conclusion that any given car's potential is not worth crap. if you want a new model good/fast car, buy a good/fast car. dont expect anyone to try to sell the necessary modifications to you. they will, but for the price, you could just buy a faster car to begin with.

example:
ralliart: $20k
turbo: $5k
other engine mods: $2.5k
suspension/handling mods: $2.5k

the ralliart is suddenly around $30k of FWD with not warranty. For about that price, i could get an evo or a Z or a stang GT (with $5k left over) or a g35 or sti, or even a used porsche 996, all financed for only about an extra $150/month. ****, i spend twice than that on lunch every month! and any of these cars are as fast if not faster than the ralliart /w all that stuff done, with no warranty issues....

so unless something really changes, my money is staying in my pocket for the time being.....and possibly until i pay the car off enough to be above water for a trade. I'm happy with it for what it is, dont get me wrong. but its too much to make it anything more
