Actually right now a used EVO is worth more based on what you can loand one for and what some of them are selling for. Do not assume all EVO's are driven hard and put away wet. I beg to differ that the insurance is more, according to my Esurance policy the wife's RA nd my EVO her car costs $20 more every 6 months. The RA costs more for some reason.

Maintainence costs are a good concern. Around 60k you will have timing belt/water pump, although the same as the RA. The EVO actually gets better gas mileage than the RA but the premium gas absorbs that difference. If you are in a good fiscal situation with your Ralliart then trading it will not be that difficult. Although I find it hard to stomach a 50% loss on a 2 year old car. Tomany of us it is worth much more than that.

If you can find a used $22k EVO on a lot somewhere, and you say owe a conservative 14k on your RA, and lets say they are nice and give you 11k for it. Then the EVO becomes a 25k car not including doc, title, tax, etc. That could take you to 26.5OTD cost. Finance that for 5 years at 5% and your looking at $500 a month for your payment. I think you would be better on a used EVO. Just expect within the first year unless already done to do a clutch.

After looking into it more, I probably won't be able to get the EVO for all the reasons posted. I owe quite a bit of $$ on the RA (rolled over some $$ from the truck I traded in) so I would be upside down. I don't want to buy a 22k evo for 26k. A buddy of mine that sells Nissans said he could get me $11500 trade in on the RA, for a 350Z. So i might do that. Not sure what to do. I am really suprised that this car is worth nothing compared to what we paid for them.

You don't buy an Evo to drive your grandmother to church.
So if its second-hand - its a safe bet its been thrashed on occasion.

Besides - Evo IX looks to be sw33333t!!

That is probably what I'll do. I am going up to Jotech Racing here in Dallas, run by Kenny Tran, this week to see what he can do with this car. They have never done one before, and sound pretty interested in trying. They have done great with the Scion TC. My car is an auto, so we'll have to see. I already have about $3200 saved up right now for the turbo/supercharger. I might talk to RRM or Rippmods. I just wish they would put up some dyno charts.
