Specific oil question

I have a 2004 ralliart with 11,000 miles on it. Since its first oil change I have used Mobil 1 5W-30. Here are my questions to ONLY ralliart owners who have NOT put a turbo on thier car and run synthetic oil. I did a search could not find the answer I was looking for.
1. Dose your, or did your, car use oil over the course of 3,000 miles?
2. How much?
3. If you switched brands did you notice and increase/decrease in oil consumption.
4. If you noticed a decrease what brand do you use?
Also to tell you my driving style is pretty tame since 90% of my driving is city driving so I don't have the space to rev the **** out of my car, nor do I have the desire to get a ticket for unreasonable acceleration. Any info would be great.

Mine hasn't used a noticeable amount of oil between changes, and 95% or more of my driving is highway.

It's normal for our car, and just about every other car out there, to use a certain amount of oil. The amount used is going to vary, even amoung cars with the same engine. I use only Mobil 5w-30 and it uses approx. 1/2 qt per 6000 miles (I change it every 6,000 miles).

I've been meaning to ask that - the dealer uses Castrol, not sure what specifics (newbie I know), but I wanted to know what the best was.

I have been using Amsoil Syntetic 10w30...I change it every 3,500-4,500. Not problems at all.

Thanks for the info so far, I use a quart every 2,000, the service dept told me that a lot of customers have been saying that thier cars use about a quart every 2-3 thousand miles (I will take that for what it is worth being from the dealer ship and all). I switched to Quaker state synthetic and if that does not work I will go to amsoil next, for now I am just going to keep my eye on things and try different formulas to see what works the best.

Your car may have not been broken in properly. Try running some dino oil for another 1,000 miles to make sure everything wears in properly, then switch back to synthetic.

I've used synthetic sine my 1st oil change.

1st lucas 5-20, 2nd Mobile1 0-20, then Royalpurple 5-20 (winter) and 10-30 summer ever since and I've never burnt a drop of oil. I drive hard and long. Something is not right

I use mobil 1 5w30 and change 2 times a year. Probably around 10,000-15000km per change. I have no noticable loss of oil when checking the dip stick.

I have used Mobil 1 in all my cars since the early 80's. In my RA and OZ as with my other cars I use 10W30, change the oil at 8,000 miles and filter at 4,000. I don’t see any unusual usage between oil/filter changes.
