I second that, I would not give that pulley up unless I had to take the engine for real service. I leave it on for oil changes because it is something they will overlook but if I have a real problem I am definitely going to take it off. That would be the ONLY time I would EVER want to drive without it. And I really wouldn't WANT to drive without it, I just would have no choice. I think this is one of the things Mitsu did a hands down industry leading job doing. They made the pulley come off so easily it's rediculous. I can do it in five minutes by myself.

LOL custom "chopped" antenna....super glue the tip onto the base more or less....its a cheap mod and still looks excelent....O2Thag has it done as well. ( guy with the black projectors ) doesnt even affect radio signal at all.

I love my pulley also. But, like this posting has stated, dont expect a diffrent car. The results are there, but dont expect a night and day diffrence. This is definately the best cheap and easy mod with proven gains.

Question

sh*t.... RRM's directions say make sure those crank bolts are tight.....well..... I ended up snapping one of them off. I only have 3 bolts holding it on but I tested it and it seems to work OK. The bolt that broke snapped off near the head... I am gunna have to drill it out and retap it. I guess I dunno my own strength. I started to twist it off. kinda freaky... I got some pics too. But how the freak do I post something thats bigger than 1oo pixels... I am new to the pic thing.

Can you take the pulley off and get a pair of vise grips on it? You should be able to find a bolt like that at a good hardware store. Just lock the vise grips real tight and twist the bolt out like that. You should have plenty of room after you remove the pulley.

tried that... I can bite with them....but I cant turn it out...its just stripping it LOL... I F*cked up. no, seriously it seems to be o.K...I will fix it though.. I never had the crank pulley on the belt either... I just tightened it normally...the bolt was missing a chunk from the factory... I thought it would be ok but I guess not. but on a brighter note....man....what a nice little improvement...not HUGE gains but it did make a difference.

If you have a dremel just cut a notch in the top of the bolt and use a large flat tip to back it out like a screw

Good idea! You can also go to Sears (yeah Sears) and get the "stripped bolt" remover to back that bolt out unless you cross threaded it going in. If you cross threaded it.... well you'll have to get it retapped for sure. But that's definatley a high priority fix since it's THE place the motor is externally balanced! Even a few grams can make a serious difference. Not "oh my god I have crank walk from driving to Sears!" but I wouldn't put more miles than I absolutely had to. I realize that Mitsu overbalances their engines but I'm sure there's more of a reason than cabin vibration. Good luck and let us know how you eventually get that bolt out in case someone else does the same thing.
