I was really glad that injen made it so that you can pull it apart and make it a short ram. You don't get that loud sound around redline with the SR. Now with all of that said, I kind of miss that loud yell at the end so I think I'm going to put my cold air extension back on!
My SRI still makes the hissing sound at high RPM, and its loud. I dont know why yours wouldnt.

Hmm, I think we are talking about two different sounds. I still get a hissing noise before Mivec kicks, then it goes away and is replaced with a deep sucking sound, (<-- that almost sounds naughty) and then it starts hissing again right before redline. The sound that I am talking about is the one that happens only when I have my CA extention on. Right around 6,000 RPM's it almost sounds like the secondaries opening up on a 4-barrel, old school, V-8 engine times 5. It is just an extremely loud sucking noise that I get with the CAI but not the SRI right before redline. It's enough of a noise to make people turn and wonder what the heck that was. Is this the sound that we are discussing in the thread or am I the only one that gets that noise? If I'm the only one that gets this noise then I will put my CAI back on this weekend and take a video of it so that everyone can hear it.

I have a Helix intake that I recently installed. I had the very same question.

However with mine the whooshing sound starts even in slow revs. I don't hear it is much in the higher revs because I think that the sound is covered up by engine and airflow around the car. I do not think that I have boost leak as I have high torque clamps on all of the intercooler piping.

When the BOV goes off, I exepected it to be loud, and it is.

Should mine be making noise @ low revs?

Yeah it's normal. It's just the shape of the filter, the extra air flow, and the path that the air takes along the intake that makes the different sounds. The sound of mine changes about 4 times if i run it all the way to redline. My buddy had an AEM on his Evo and his does the same as yours. It made his stock BOV louder too.
