Light performance mods. Help newbie.

Next year im planning to lightly mod the performance of my ralliart. Im thinking intake and exhaust only. What other mod or mods usually go along with those two that are not too extreme? Thanks. Im a newbie incase your wondering.

If you don't want to get too wild or loud I'd go:
RRM Pulley, AEM Cold air intake, Lancershop short shifter with metal bushings, and a nice stainless exhaust tip welded on at a shop.
If you want to get wilder there will soon be two headers on the market for our cars. Don't bother to change the stock exhaust unless you are going for maximum horsepower.
Good Luck

^^^ what he said but get the magnaflow axleback, it'll give you a deeper exhaust note along with the cai. for handling, for starters you can go with rrm's lower tie bar and put a drop on it =] when/if you can afford it.
keep us posted if you get any mods dude.

What if I just get an intake and exhaust? only? Is that good if I just want it to sound good and be slightly faster? Would you guys reccomend something else basic to add to this? What about that piggyback? Is that pretty basic or a pain the the ars for someone who just wants to drive without a hastle?

I think I have all simple mods. CAI, Pulley, short shifter with bushings, lower tiebar.

I don't have the exhaust yet, but will in the future. I think it sounds fine now, but will sound better with a different exhaust (very little gains with an aftermarket exhaust, however).

Go to RRM's site and check what is available: http://www.roadracemotorsports.com

I have a question. When it comes to performance mods for a ralliart, is RRM the place that has it all? I mean do other brands carry performance parts that RRM does not make? If RRM has everything, that would make it alot easier for me to browse through and choose.

You've just got to shop around and use the "SEARCH" feature often. RRM carries a buttload of stuff and is a known DSM/Mitsu supplier. However, different companies make good parts. Some make parts better than others. It all comes down to:

It's your car. Add the features you like and feel comfortable driving with. Use the opinions as a baseline for your searches and find out if other's suggestions fit your needs. They may...but they may not... best of luck. And Welcome!

If you do not also want to get loud by the ECU Piggyback from RRM awesome gains saving for one right now, buy an ECU,Pulley,Intake and the others say headers and exhaust if you want to get loud or by the axleback from RRM anything you want just go to roadracemotorsports.com

This was similar to what I said i was going to do several years ago "I just want a lightly modded Lancer" I ended up modifying everything...

Good luck with the mods there are plenty of the same type of parts out there for the cars it is just a good idea to ask lots of questions from lots of different people that have used the parts and which brand... it is also a good idea to stick to one type of manufacturer as they usually base the next part on an existing part that they make so that everything is compatable and each part works well together

This is everything im doing to my ralliart......

tint
headlights
evo 8 front plate
lower
rims/tires
evo 8 spoiler
Sound system
paint calipers
mod foglights
intake
exhaust

The last two are the only real performance mods I am going to do. Besides those two, are there any other perfomrance mods that can make the car sound better? Thanks.

I lightly modded my RA and went with:
-axle back exhaust
-injen intake
-RRM pulley
-Slotted Rotors
-axxis brake pads
-window tint
-LED underbody kit
-voltage stabilizer

Definetly get the rrm pulley, its only $120, and it gives you some good gains. RRM even has instructions on how to install which i used and didn't think it was that bad.

A few people on here have said that there are no gains to be made from a set of Headers....I tend to disagree with this as I have a set on my car so my opinion is probably viewed as being biased... so if you are after simple mods the Headers come into that category... I think it is one of those basic mods that are done on all types of cars no matter what badge they carry

Good luck with it and keep us posted on your updates

^+1 for the header. It's a very easy mod to do and they are seeing good gains from doing them. They got a 10% gain at the wheels on chowetime's car with just the header alone. The other one that I recommend is the UD pulley. I've had mine on for about 10k miles now and have had no problems with it. I installed it in about 30 minutes while I was at school and that time is from when I pulled my car onto the lift to the time I pulled it off of the lift. An intake and cat back exhaust will compliment these mods well.
