I have heard that this is a flaw with the injen design because the CAI does not allow for any engine movement, unlike the RRM CAI which uses the stock rubber air inlet to the intake manifold. This is not the first time I have heard of this, and wonder how many people are running their cars with this problem and not even know it. That is a scary thought, with all that dirt getting in their.

Haven't had any issues with any of the Injen CAI's i have owned. That piece that broke should have been bolted to a rubber bushing. Hey never hurts to talk to Injen the worst they can do is say no on a warranty claim.

I've had mine on for a year and a half or so. Thanks for the heads up, although mine hasn't done it, I'll definately check it out periodically to make sure it's in good order.

i am just wondering how long it has been like that, letting dirt into my engine. I put the stock intake back on instead of using the Injen as a short ram. I dont really like the design for the CAI on the RA's anyways. doesnt make much since to me having the filter behind the fog light. If you were to remove the driver side fog light, then it would be a really good setup.

the area behind the fog light isn't air tight, and the idea is to get the filter away from the warm air around your engine. contact injen directly about this would be your best bet, and you tell them it was a gift.

INjens tend to do that. We have a littlke box of them from guys who leave them here after they replace them with our intakes.

Doesn't help that our engines move so damn much. I'm positive that the only reason mine hasn't broken is because the AEM bypass I put in allows some flex.

I have seen this so many times with other cars and other intakes the best ones to have are the ones that have a join in the top pipe, so that the top pipe comes in two pieces and a piece silcon/rubber hose joiner connects both pipes with a space of 10mm between pipes, this allows for movement between the engine - the engine mounts and anything else that is bolted solid to the car chassis.... Now I realize that the engine moves quite a bit stock. You have to be freaking kidding me to say THAT is the reason this CAI broke! I'll accept material defect from Injen as a possibility but where is the missing piece? That piece not only broke the welds but tore the metal... I went "off roading" into a concrete barrier and bent/broke inner tie rods and lower control arm and didn't generate enough force to break my Injen CAI. So I'm more than a little curious to hear what your car has been doing! I'm guessing a little something more forcefull than "revving it up at a stoplight". If not then I would DEMAND a refund or replacement from them.
