+1 that has been the coolest feeling about owning this car, i couldn't even get the porsche to kick it up to speed very quick as quick as this car, admittedly it would probably leave this car in the dust at about the 135mph range, as my boxter topped out at about 161, before i A. ran out of road B. ran out of RPM's and the rev limiter kicked in.

By "optimum" do you mean as far as gas consumtion goes? If so the optimum speed would be just slightly above 70mph (71 or 72). This will keep you right below MIVEC.

For gas mileage on the hwy, stay out of mivec...which for me means just under 120 kph...I did that once and found I could've gotten probably another 70-80kms out the tank, compared to going about 125-130 kph, where it revs around 3600-3700 rpm

When I'm good and set the cruise at around 70 mph on the highway, I average per tank around 31 mpg. When I cruise around 75-80, my MPG drops to around 27 average per tank.

I am going to have to disagree with this one. The "optimum" speed for gas mileage is nowhere near as fast as 70 mph. I believe anything after 65 has been proven to greatly decrease gas mileage. There have been lots threads on here about this, search if you want the technical info.

But, as it has been stated many times, once you hit the mivec you better be driving for fun, cause you sure aren't saving gas.

yea saving gas consumption, is what i meant by "optimum" and I just threw it out there since it kinda met in with what I was trying to get info on. So then 65 was the best then? I ussually set cruise at 75, I should drop it to 65 then. I have gotten thus far, the last time i did a check on it, I got about 23.43.. and the rest just kinda trailed off.

I mostly stay below 3600 on the street, unless I'm bored and looking for fun or I'm with someone who underestimates the RA and talks crap about it. When I'm on a street with a limit in the 35-50 mph limit range, I'll shift between 2500 and 3000 cept for in the higher gears, where I'll shift below 2500. If I'm approaching a right-hander with a green light and I'm in 4th or 5th, I'll downshift through a few gears to 2nd or 3rd to pull through the turn for a fun exit, and then upshift between 2500 and 3000 on the next street. On mountain roads, I leave it up high way more and shift as high as 6500 depending on the situation. I also do downshifts at much higher RPM's on those types of roads, normally for optimum engine braking, ability to brake in the corner without shifting and messing up weight distribution, and ability to pull outa the exit real hard.

On the highway, I rarely exceed 75 and I try to keep it between 70-73. Normally if traffic allows, I stay at 72. If I do step into MIVEC range, I figure if you're gonna get bad mileage, you might as well have fun. You get the point. I do such small amounts of freeway driving that I really don't know how much of a difference staying out of MIVEC makes.

Shifting below 2300rpm in the city and staying below 3500rpm on the fwy yields the best MPG.

If I remember correctly, there's a section in the manual that gives you the exact shift point for each gear to get the best MPG.

What are you even talking about? If you don't mind could you leave this out of the threads. It is disrespectful and has no bearing on the subject matter at hand. If you are going to post please try to add something to the discussion.
