is this normal?

I was bootin around today pretty hard and when I got home I left the car ideling while I went inside for a minute or two. When I got back outside I noticed my car ideling diffrently didn't really see it but it sounded like it was bouncing between 1000 and 3000 every 5 seconds or so? Why would it be doing that and should I be woried? Any advice would be great! Cheers

It's probably the fan kicking on and off... considering you couldn't see any RPM change.

it shouldn't go up to 3k rpm though. mine goes to 1000 with the fan on. in some carsits air or low coolant and others a faulty maf sensor

Sticking with one brand of gas is common sense, you can do serious damage using gas that isn't meant for the car or even switching gas up without siphoning all the other gas out first.

wait is this true? I'm pretty sure most gas companies (all the big ones) actually refine their gas or buy it from the same source.

Plus, wouldn't mitsu tell you that you need to stick with the same kind of company if it can cause massive damage to the car? I've almost never been consistent with what company i get gas from in all 3 of my cars with no trouble ever

The company does not matter, it's the kind of gas like normal, premium, or super premium, it's not good for the car to be cycled through those.

Oh ok sorry about that when you said "brand" in a previous post I thought you meant the different companies. For sure it is a bad idea to switch octanes

I always use premium gas (93) .Get better mpg than with regular(87) ,+ car runs better IMO. Price? .74 cts /ltr (93oct) versus .70cts/ltr(87oct) not a big diference.I prefere Texaco but if not available then anyone will solve the prob. Switch a couple of times to regular because of a price reduction an d the car works fine, but feels best with premium.
