NO maintainence. You just install them and drive away.

What kind of popping out?

Also, had anyone had an issue of poping out of gears occasionally?
I think you might have a synchro issue there

oo no i bought the 2 sets of bushings... One goes into the shifter base INSIDE the cabin, and the others are the underhood ones that Joe's talking about... The ones that fit inside the cabin don't fit my shifter base (plastic white piece that supports the shifter assembly in the center console). But i'm sure the ones that go into the linkage underneath the hood of the car work fine, i'm just too lazy to install them right now...

He probably is talking about the infamous first gear pop out........but if it's popping out of one of the other gears then it might be a linkage problem.

The ones inside your cabin are not designed to fit the hole itself. Rather install them line the screw up and bolt it down. You will flex the poly when they are installed. They dont need to slide into the shifter base.

So wait since i installed them with the tapered side face down, put the washer and then the bolt in and just torque it down. And as long as its lined up with the hole it'll squeeze in?

Yes, when you are done it will look like it is squezing the hell out of the bushing. That is OK though.

Sounds good, do i want to insert the bushings from the bottom of the shifterbase upwards or from downwards going from the top of the shifterbase...?

i've had my brass bushings installed both underhood and under plate for nearly two years, thru winters and everything, zero problem.

not sure why yours would seize into place.
