06 RA - About to purchase have some questions

Hi Guys,
I am hopefully going to be the owner of a 06' Ralliart in the next few days. I just had a few questions for everyone in regards to the price I should try and obtain from the dealer. I have been to the dealership to test drive the car and sat down with the sales manager to discuss the pricing. He said that the markup on the cars was about $1450 and he was willing to give me back $450 upfront and they take home $1000. Does that sound right ? Are they only making about $1400 off a ralliart ? Should i try to bargin him down more or should I accept what he has offered.. I am buying in Canada the configuration i want is around $25,000 (Sun and Sound package)... I figured I ask for $500 off and a free window tint.. Just wondering if anyone had any advice on what price I should target or how much more you think I could talk him down..

Also can I hook up an aftermarket stero deck that works with the factory CD Changer ? (Sorry my first car purchase)

Thanks,
Aver

$25,800 Ralliart with Sun and Sound (a $2,000 option up here) with Freight and Dealer Prep, I beleive that generally cars are more expensi ve in Canada than they are in the US.

Its equivalent to $23K US

By building the equivalent car on the US website it comes out to be about $21,300...

I bought mine interstate in Australia. Bought plane tickets for both my friend and I to fly down to Melbourne and road tripped it back up. I saved like $5,000 AUD after all expenses paid including insurance, rego etc.. Also it was good because it allowed the engine to break in after 991kms.

If you want, buy one from the USA and get it shipped. It won't cost anywhere near as much as $25k to purchase + ship. Just make sure you do your HW. Shipping for me was only $500 AUD on the trailer. Not sure how long the trip will be for you but whatever it is, it's surely cheaper than $25k.

No you're wrong. Importing from the states will cost just as much or even more, when you bring it over the border you're gonna have to go through duties + tax all over again. Discussed this matter gazillion amount of times with local forums.

If that were the case, Canada would have extreme crap car sales ratings, in which people would just go to the states and bring it up. Obviously, thats not the case.

Aver,
The price you are being quoted is about right. Ignore the US people, they have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to the Canadian market. You cant get a decent sports compact car in Canada for under $25,000. $13,5000 - $15,000 will get you a Yaris or a Fit
Get what ever you can out of them for freebies and the like.
Where in Canada are you?

My bad. I didn't think it would cost that much. But ah well..

Well lets say he can source a RA for about $15-17k in the states. Will there be an extra $8-10k put on top for importing inlcuding taxes etc?
