Marvel Mystery Oil

This is a duel thread on the (regular) lancer forum as well, please ignore that post as im trying to get as much seperate input as possible... ok, well I have a 06 ralliart with about 2700 miles, about to change the oil ( free oil change coupon at the local mitsu dealer)... im thinking about either putitng in marvel mystery oil in teh gas/oil that day... or just having synthetic put it in all together. yes i know the synthetic has been debated over and over and i intend to search for more info, howeer has anybody used marvel in their lancers in either standard or synthetic?? thanks guys!

I would choose synthetic over conventional+MMO any day. There's nothing wrong with MMO, an old mechanic I know swears by it. I just think full synthetic oil, regardless of brand, will beat the pants off it.

And it was the 3000 mile oil change when I switched to synthetic. That was a lot of miles ago.

Our cars don't need the MMO... BUT however, all the other old crap I drive gets it every 10k or so in the gas and the oil... Helps with old sludged up motors and such, but unless you have never changed the oil in your RA I wouldn't mess with it...

synthetic has been proved on a dyno that it adds about 1-2 hp

I'm not so concerned about a possible 1-2 hp gain from synthetic. I've seen firsthand an engine with 230,000 miles on it look much cleaner inside than an identical engine with 60,000. The 230k head looked brand new inside, the 60k head had a lot of gunk and was stained brown.

The difference? The clean one was fed synthetic its whole life, and the other one was fed conventional oil. Both were regularly changed at 3000 mile intervals by me. That little experiment was what sold me on synthetic.

Agreed, my last toyota truck now has 432K and counting on it... Full synthetic since around 90K... You could pull the cover and eat off of that head... Now my 4wd Toyota used and abused on conventional oil smokes and when you pull the valve cover you have to scrape the sludge off to get to the rockers... It has 300+K on it, still runs good, low on power and as was said, burns oil... Both maintained similarly....
