Squirrely rear end

So lately, I've noticed that my ra's rear end likes to slip a little, i dont know if this has to do with winter coming or ive been dicking around with it more but anyway, i was wondering if anyone else has this problem? and if they do but fixed it, what did it take?

iv only really broken the back wheels free once, and it was right after i rotated my tires for the first time... i find it quite difficult. but it doesnt get cold or snow or any of that here.

Cold weather means worse traction. Either switch to winter tires or slow down.

On the ralliart stock suspension, especially in cold weather, its pretty easy to do. If you are taking a corner hard, then counter steer hard, it can kick the rear end out nicely. ^_^

low center of gravity, sway bar will help, make sure there is enough tread on the tires, dont pull the hand break, slow down, dont turn so sharply, etc ...

Rear end kicks out: to correct, counter steer a bit and give it more gas. Should straighten right out....but don't overdo it, you can easily kick it the other way.

OP: What do you mean by "dicking around with it more"? Can you be specific?

I believe you are referring to a Scandanavian flick, or Feint Drift. This is a VERY difficult technique to master, and I would NOT recommend practicing on public roads. I have done this a few times at an autocross during long sweeper type turns, but won't do it on public roads (I am far from mastering this technique, but it does work). Info on the technique here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feint_drift

Like Otter said.....slow down. Leave the driving technique testing for closed course driving.

ahhhh...you are right.....what I think he is referring to is the Feint, which is done while in the corner, and the Scandinavian is done before the turn.

Gettin' my techniques confoosed!

its not enough where its a fishtail, i just can feel slipping. the only time i did anything horribly scary is i had water blasted onto my windshield and right as i got it off my corner came up and i went from 55 to 30 in a matter of like 3 seconds and turned sending me into the corner sideways then correcting and driving normally.

i can actually drive for being 19 even though its hard to believe.

im not testing any techniques on public roads...well one but thats because the cops never go down it nor do most sane people, ever....they themselves admit(sheriff, state and local cops) that they never go down that road because of how impossible it is to catch someone on it when they get busted speeding. usually you'll only see people going down it to see what their car can do.
