ive been thinking about putchasing their CAI and the magnaflow exhaust. are they worth it, or are their better brands that will do better performance wise? on the rrm website they have the dyno sheet of our car with their cai, exhaust, and piggyback ecu. and it only gives us like another 4 or 5 hp. that doesnt seem like alot to me for all that.
This has been discussed to death! But in case you missed it (
) CAI + exhaust will prob give you around 10-12hp. Muffler alone won't do much, it's more of a helper mod for latter parts such as dp and header.
And most CAI are within 1-2hp of each other... really no diff. Just pick the company or price you like best. Some CAI don't have much flex in their design and can break where they mount like the Injen one, but RRM and AEM's don't seem to have this prob.
No sure what dyno you were looking at, but it's more than 4hp!

I know what he means. He is looking at the diff. between the red and blue dyno lines on the chart. I'm not sure what the difference in mods is between the two lines. It claims a 27whp gain with piggy, intake, axle back but keep in mind they are using 137whp as a baseline for the ralliart. I believe the autos are around that range but stock manual ralliarts tend to dyno around 146 whp, so 164-146 = 18whp gain.
thanks amax ya thats was i was looking at. i was a bit confused.
onother question.
which is better. the magnaflow catback exhaust or the axel back exhaust?
my cars completely stock at the moment. i just want wats best for my money
on the rrm website it says that 1 out of 5 ra's wont be able to have the axelback installed. wats this about? anyone know?

which is a better buy? you no wat.. can someone just explain to me the difference between an exel back and a catback. most hp and tq gain, beter all around, ect.? sorry but i just dont know mutch about car mechanics.
firstly you need to decide and to be honest with yourself what it is that you are wanting to achieve and for what purpose you are going to be or wanting to use the car for... me for example I love doing circuit racing and I love my drag racing but I also need a car for everyday use for work so for me to be competitive I got the RPW turbo with a very mild tune now this setup is fine for me but for someone else it may be too much because or not enough, if you just want to have the odd traffic light run... as this will determine how far you go with mods
the size of the catback/axel back etc will also depend greatly on if you have a manual or auto
The next thing to think on is budget
If you are wanting a really good fast throttle responsive car then your starting point is headers and full exhaust of 21/2" should get you around 12 - 15hp cost will be about $1k
if you just want a good alround car for doing the odd traffic light hero stuff then I would look at a cat back exhaust of about 21/4" with a nice muffler - magna flow etc hp gains could be as much as 8hp (which is what i got on mine.. dyno proven) cost I would allow $400
if you just want to drive around normally and want a better sound then you go the axel back
which is just a muffler basicly hp numbers won't be much at best 2-3hp but will only cost a couple of hundred
(all dollar values are AUD
)
to find the actual location of the cat convertor crawl under your car it kind of looks like a muffler?? it should be located almost under the drivers seat as for the axel back again look under the car and were you see the rear axel it is there
