RA Fog light bulb replacement? help..

Hey Stupid question but how the hell do you get to those little buggers. I have tryed getting underneath and pulling the plastic which im guessing is the way but i was braking all the clips. I even tryed pulling the headlights, heh. Anyways is pulling the plastics the easiest? I got my hands to one of them but couldnt get to the bulb. Anyone with a how to would be great..
Thanks
Chris

Remove the splash guards and take out the screw that is holding it to the mount on the side. Then remove the wire and pull out the fog light. You take out the bottom screws (4 of them, strip very easily and they are tight) then once inside you remove the little zig zag shaped silver clip and the light comes right out. The clip is a pain in the butt to put back in. I advise taking a picture or drawing out how it was in there. It took me forever to figure it out.

I should have made a how to when I did mine, but I really didn't think about it because I thought it would be easy.

When you put your fog lights back in if they aren't level you can use a long philips head screw driver and put it through the square cut out on the front fog light cover and adjust the leveling screw.

If you need any more help feel free to ask.

Man i didn't have much problem with mines.. i did them 3 times in a month once, just gotta be patient, and if you can jack up the car cause it makes it a hell of a lot easier to work under there. Be patient with the 4 screws around the housing, cause they strip easily if you're moving too fast, and make sure you don't loose them cause then blend in with the ground amazingly well. I didn't have any leveling problems with mines yet so iono if that has anything to do with the bulb, just the housing. Also be careful with those plastic clips holding the splash gaurd on, they break easily then you gotta go all the way to the dealer and buy more.. or well to autozone if they have them... Good luck

You could always just drop your bumper and get to them that way. I am actually getting ready to replace one of mine as it met a rock one day and is now cracked. I have been thinking about painting the lenses yellow.

I think he's talking about changing the bulb.. dropping the bumper to change the bulb is wayy to much work. But to change the whole housing unit dropping the bumper would make it 10x easier...

i just got the dealership to change mine today. i tried changing it myself the night before, splash guards were easy, but trying to remove the 3 screws was a pain in the ***, i damn near destroyed 2 of them trying to do so

i realize they have to be airtight, but someone at mitsu should be b!tchslapped for this.

they used really cheap soft metal for those screws. If you screw driver doesn't fit exactly it strips them. One of mine started to strip out a little bit, but I got it all back together.

i got charged $30 for a half-hour of work, even though the mechanic ended up taking more than an hour to do them. the service manager originally quoted me a half hour before they started the work so he kept his word.

I've said this before and I will say it again: Once you are able to jack the car up and remove the splashguards, there is only one screw that holds the entire foglight in place. It is better to have a buddy remove that screw from the front. Once the screw is off, the light comes out via a swinging motion, kind of like having a hinge. There are actually two small prongs connected to a polyurethane-like mount; this is what I mean by a hinge.

It is better to work on the small screws if you have the whole light in front of you, on your desk. These screws strip easily, so better add some WD40 first to help loosen them.

I've attached how I remember the light to look like (I think it's for the driver's side).

Enjoy.

I just jack the car up, remove the splash guards, and use a stubby #2 phillips to remove the screws. If the tip fits in the screw head perfectly, you can break it loose without stripping it. Use one that's too small, and the head will strip out quicker than my prom date did.
