NEED IN PUT FAST-Protection Package

Hey all, need input of whether you all value your protection package as a worthy investment.
Keep in mind BLACK PAINT
El salesmanio says -
'guaranteed'
Teflon coating protects paint & finish - not rock chips tho
Undercoat protects 'underneath' from rust
Stain protection in seats & carpet

I plan on babying the sghit out of my RA but the paint thing sounds nice
$1000 ontop of the MSRP, (cdn, but close enough you should feel my pain $900US'ish)
p/u car on monday NEED IN PUT FAST

Personally, I wouldn't get it. The car should already be undercoated, and you can apply a stain protectant yourself for FAR less, leaving you with about $950CDN to put a clear bra on your car to protect from rock chips, and wash and wax it once in a while.

In other words, it sounds to me like the dealer's just trying to get as much money as he can out of you. Kind of like the $50 "injector cleaning" service they recommend every time you want them to do anything to your car.

Yea, at the dealer they tried to sell me the "undercoating" but I know a guy that does car detailing and undercoating. Took it to him, put it up on the lift and told me its already undercoated. Phoned the dealership to see if they charged me for it and asked why it was already sprayed. They told me that they spray it in japan when they make the cars to protect it from the sea salt when they ship them over, dunno it its true or not.

They told me if you buy the undercoating its just warrenty for the undercoating thats already on there. Useless IMO.

I dealt the paint protection and undercoating for 600$ CAN in july...

worth it if you ask me... paint on mitsu is really bad, if it rust a little, I ll put big salt on it until it creates a hole !

they will replace those metal sheets

K thanks guys, I think you've helped me figure this out.
Will a good waxing take out (or prevent) the spiral-like scratches in the paint that you always see on a black vehicle. I don't plan on taking it through any car washes. Just spray & mit is best right...? But damn I hate seeing a black car w/ the swirl'y scuffs.

I don't think anything short of encasing the car in a solid block of Lucite will prevent swirl marks in 's black paint.

Waxing will definitely help. Washing the car below the body line with a different mitt can help, too. It really irritates me when the places that advertise a "gentle hand wash" scrub under the rocker panels of the muddy truck in line in front of me, then come to my car and plop that same mitt on my hood and scrub it around. I gave up on those, and just wash it in my driveway whenever it's warm enough. In winter, I take it to the local DIY car wash and hose it down a day or two after the roads are clear and dry, to blast off the salt.

Don't get it...that's one of the big ways dealers make money.

Solution:

Wash and wax your car with GOOD products (Klasse wax for example).

Undercoating is already done on the vehicle. If it wears down in places through the years go buy a can of it at the auto store.
