not a soothing sound...
i was on my way to class the other day and due to the snow/ice weve gottan the soles of my shoes have been wet getting into the car and its hard to push in the clutch because i almost slip with the aluminum pedals i have. well sure enough i went to go shift into 3rd and my foot slipped right up the clutch and i slightly grinded third but it was very quick because i instantly put it back into neutral and skipped to 4th. well now everytime i shift into 3rd while the rpms are high it gives me a bit of trouble and it sounds like theres a slight grind. my friend said something about the brushings or something like that and i really hope its not the actual clutch i damaged because i had to have it replaced almost right after i bought it due to the previous owners wear and tear. this is the first time ive ever come that close to grinding the clutch soo idk what it might be. any suggestions?

oh...but if i shift while driving normal...not accelerating fast and i go to shift into third it doesnt make the noise and give me the trouble, even if i accelerate at an average speed into the higher rpms and shift it into 3rd it doesnt do it. only when im say "racing" or driving fast it does it.

happens to my car all the time... my clutch is fine according to my uncle who gave it some sort of feeler test, he said i might have just temporarily knocked my synchro's or something but it normally goes away in a couple of days. Some days i'll be shifting like butter others is like trying to pry the sword out of the stone..
I'm also experiencing the pedal slippage which i'm trying to figure out how to fix, i don't want to get no aftermarket pedals or nothing, but i might have to just for the clutch. Happens to me WAY too much, that or i might wrap it in grip tape or something.

i would just check the tranny fluid like these guy say and see if that works.
i noticed in your list of mods you have a an after market clutch. Do you have motor mounts along with that??? When i bought my clutch, clutchline, and flywheel wheel, i installed them at the same time, and these mods made me have alot more wheel hop than before. Not only did i have more wheel hop but the engine movment was also alot worse than before. Myabe you keep grinding 3rd cuz when your at high rpms and hi engage the clutch, the engine moves a big from the tranny and it aint catching the right way???? if you get motor mounts the engine will stay completly firm. Only downside is you get small amounts of vibration, but hey... its a race car right??
now im not saying THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM, im only saying this happened to me. I got the clutch, my engine moved to much during hard shifting, and i grinding gears. I bought the motor mounts, my engine and tranny stayed in one spot at all times, and i never grinded a gear ever since.

I've heard a good way to test if your clutch is good or not, is to let it out in first w/o giving it any gas, if it takes awhile to stall then your clutch is going bad but if i stalls instantly then the clutch is still good.

I'm starting to have the exact same problem as Ralli04 and I have changed tranny fluid. Happens in 3rd pretty much 4500rpm +. I did have clutch issues before where my clutch cylinder cracked and leaked fluid so I had trouble shifting because there wasn't enough fluid going to it. Brought it in and had the cylinder replaced but I still have trouble getting into first gear and reverse smoothly it has resistance then goes in. I have oem clutch and clutchline still too. thoughts? Also ralli04 did you get it fixed?
My car had the same problem awhile ago it was in 2nd gear though I accidently ground the gear once and I had the problem every day after that. took it to the dealership and when they took it apart they said it was the syncro that was shot. Got it replaces under warrenty and no problems since.
i found out what it is...my cousin is phenominal with cars and i finally got a chance to see him this past weekend and he took the car out for a drive...he said its my syncro..my 3rd gear. he said check around on this forum to see if anyone has used this tranny fluid he recommended..its called GM Syncro Mesh. its made for GM cars but a LOT of honda guys use it because its really good with fixing small grinds like this..soo anyone have any feedback on this tranny fluid? think itd be useable on our car? cause im going to get the oil and tranny fluid changed today
true....he also gave me a good way for you to tell if your clutch is going or not...while rolling put your car in the highest gear (5th for us) and floor it...if your rpms start to shoot up faster than they should your clutch is going/slipping.
