P0171 Too lean after RRM intake
I actually cracked the head, so either replace it or buy a head. I am looking at buying a head first thing next week. I still need to find a shop to port and polish it for me. I am trying to get one with a cam, so I can send that off for a regrind too. Between those two things, some good headstuds, and coating all the components with ceramics and lubricants like migueralliart I can probably go to 15 psi with the stock bottem end. I am not sure, and will be sure to price a block before I try. I am guessing I can put down well over three hundred horsepower with all this and 15 psi.
well, the sensor never really felt like it got tight. I heard a pop, adn the whole side of the sensor mount is cracked partially off. It didn't crack all the way around the bottom, but now oil leaks out the side of the sensor mount. I've tried various things, but am open to new suggestions. the way I see it, have it welded or replace it.
figured that would happen, but I had my fingers crossed for you. gotta get the wideband put on, it will tell you if you need to tune your car or start looking elsewhere for a problem. My guess is still that you will have to tune the car, but I have seen the stock tune on a wideband and I can't understand why
i guess i should make my intake longer. all i did was cut off the box, and put an air filter directly on it. so the filter isn't even a full inch away fromthe mas. hah. maybe thatd explain my CEL. but ive driven over a thousand miles after switching to 91, and the light never came on. maybe i was lucky? oh well. i still wanna make my intake longer now. there probably is unmetered air getting through or whatev.
A couple of weeks ago, Rock suggested a "scientific approach" and block off part of the intake. He was almost certain that it would restrict airflow back to stock levels and not cause the CEL. I'm just going to live wit' it.
ok, so buy the intake and put it under the hood, and then restrict the flow back to stock levels. Where is the benefit
I would say if you want to run SRI tune the car, or go back to stock. According to Robs advice you would be better of drawing air through the stock configuration because the air would be cooler.

Okay noticed something else... Reset the battery last thursday - light came on saturday on my way down to base. Thing is I had pretty much driven the car the same until then.. I hit over 5k rpm and the light kicked on... didn't matter how fast I was going or how long of a drive all for those couple of days .. maybe it was just a coincidence but as soon as I hit 5k in 4th gear the CEL came on...
think about going back to stock.. .cuz when the CEL comes on the MPG goes down to about what a V8 would get.

I have a similar issue. When I bought my car, I was getting around 22MPG, after 10k it went up to 24k. I measured yesterday after running higher test fuel, and only 18MPG. I am not driving like a nut either! I may throw my stock on it and measure again. If you get around to doing this, let me know what happens.
my only problem is when removing the stock airbox i cracked the box into about 10 pieces.. i.e. I forgot about the bolt behind the box and way at the bottom... pretty much snapped it in half..\
anyone got a stock airbox for sale..lol..
