4G69 = 178Bhp at the Crank

Yeah, I was suprised too, because the figure of 162bhp had always been thrown about so much.
Then I realised that this was a post-CAT figure and estimate for the car it was installed in, which is why with more restriction it only gets 158bhp in some Lancers, and 152Bhp in some Outlanders.
Why is the Lancer Ralliart 162Bhp then? Because they have taken into account the CAT's - remove them, and it will be closer to the factory figure for the engine.
This figure is from a special Outlander Service Information Manual (Not Repair Manual), and goes into HUGE detail about the engine - what everything is made from, and why.... how it all works etc...
And then is the result of Factory specifications:
178 Gross (Before CATS are added) Bhp @ 6000rpm
217NM Torque @ 4000rpm (this figure is NET so I guess is Outlander specific)
Below is the proof:

Cool huh? Seems possible that 162Bhp may be slightly less than accurate, though for those of you with CAT's, I guess 162-170bhp would be about right. I find it hard to believe the muffler, exhaust piping and CAT's would sap 16bhp! Then again, maybe thats why RRM sells so many exhausts!

test pipes for everyone!
nah,
ill gladly give up 16hp from my car to keep the earth green!
unless the high flow cat will rock out, and still keep mother nature from flipping out.

great find! is that a paper or CD manual, and where did you source it from? I would like obtain a copy of that manual, since it goes into detail about the hows and whys instead of just the whats and wheres like the one I have.

yeah, but with all the PR guys modding cars you need to plant three
