Exhaust Help!!

Hi there people : heres the dilio

I am setting up the purchase list for my exhaust , I will be running a 1.75 inch runners header with a 2.5 downpipe... now I have two options

1- Run full 2.5 " with HF cat + resonator + magnaflow Xl muffler which I think will be noisy

or

2- Run 2.25" with HF cat + resonator + magnaflow Xl muffler and a exhaust electric cutout programmed to open @ 4K to an open 2.5 pipe the cutout will be located between the DOWNPIPE and CAT ... and I am planning on using the Innovate LC-1 wideband installed right at the header collector and emulate using one of its outputs the stock narrow sensor (I've done this before but at the stock O2 position)

My main concern is the noise while daily driving COPS in PR are idiots and always want to give you noise tickets . I thought about option2 because also that way I can have the low end I want and at higher RPMS a lot more flow....

I wanna hear your ideas or thoughts... If someone have sound clips for the setup number 1 I wanna hear if they are too noisy

This is why my exhaust is still stock...its not just the exhaust($150ish ticket)

but then...

tint ticket
headlight ticket
foglight ticket
getting a ticket for not putting the turn signal when you are pulled over ticket
need a haircut ticket
car too dirty ticket

paying the fines with the interest when you renovate your license... priceless

go with option 2....its more cheaper in the long run

Mine is LOUD as hell, and it was working like a dream, cuz it looks close to stock. But apparently the Motherpopos are recruiting young "enthusiast" nerdy guys who read car mags so they know what they are into.

So now, there are two sides, nerdy guy who reads mags and races OR nerdy guys who read car mags while their wives are cheating on them, to give tickets and PRETEND they know what their doing and taht they know more tahn you and 'bend' the law to still give you the ticket, even though you can win the allegation(<-sp?) later.

Excuse the comment, but it is a profession here. And I hope it grows more

Back to topic, the only way to get NO sound is to install your restrictive catalitic on, but even though you are gonna get tickets, I had two with the stock exhaust, even though you win the allegation, the whole process gets to you. and now with that quota business we are doomed to hell

What side are you on

Yup. #2 looks good here as well.

Get the butterfly on a switch, so that it can be disabled as well, if you are simply running on the highway in 5th @160km/h and want it to be somewhat QUIET...lol

if your saying that you got a ticket for your stock exhaust with cat.....then our smart PR police officers need to brush up on their federal regulations....

The cutout butterfly will open automatically only @ 100% throttle , I can program that with the SMT-6..... I hate cops man in PR they shouldn't give tickets for loud exhaust they should be more concerned about patrolling increasing the security in our homes instead they leave the ****ing bikes alone and they DO make a lot of noise

well if im not mistaking you have the right to buy an exhaust of your choosing if you dont want the OEM and emision laws here in PR are laughable, ppl without cats pass them(if you know the right ppl ). Ive heard that in other states there are laws that regulate the decibels that an exhaust is permited(correct me if wrong).

This is what is found on the emission and noise laws here

Every car will need a noise reducing system which needs to be in good conditions. It will be illegal to use valves or other dispositive to produce noise

Será ilegal el aceleramiento innecesario del motor o el producir ruido con el mismo en zona urbana. Unnecessary acceleration and noise producing is illegal

Por "sistema amortiguador de sonido" se entenderá cualquier dispositivo o artefacto, usado para reducir el sonido producido por la emisión de gases de un motor de combustión interna.

It does not state what level is categorized as unnecesary noise

best thing u can do is # 2 then put stock catback exhaust so u have no noise and lil chrome tip for looks but before catback...u know open header trick...this way when u race u have ur maximun flow and when u don't the cops can't mess with u...and if they give u a ticket u just win the case...best thing to do with really modded cars that in a week or 2 will be known due to being undefeated...cops r car freaks 2 so u better with option 2 so u stay or seem legal to them plus then can't check down the car to see if u have this on...and if they do it don't matter u just say it's a racing car in the weekends...so if u still want deep tone for a day basis then use a borla muffle...best sound ever!!!!! and idles really quite...plus when u race the car sounds like in the movies...

if you mean modding changing the muffler for another then i dunno...imagine your car hit a deep ditch or w/e or your old muffler is rusted out. You take it to the shop and you put a replacement which is not OEM....that will get you a ticket?...the law says u need a resonator for the muffler and thats it and not to make excesive noise...but remember that PR cops are implanted decibel meters in their ears so they can accurately tell if your making "bad noise".....i think your best option is to get a bad *** radar detector to know when to keep of the throtle

Option 2.

2.25" imo is always the way to go with an N/A application

It's perfect for your desired setup.

Though I do think 2.5" would be good as well since you're going the whole nine miles - meaning since you'll be putting her on the dyno, tune, cams, head, seals, im etc. tuning to a 2.5" application would give you a massive top-end and the torque well (hehe) - I can't tell you how much you'll love it since your rev-limiter will scream all the way to 7.5k.

I have the 2.25 application and with my modifications (you know), I'm happy with it for a street setup.
