Question..

Does anyone know of anyone who can make engine blocks? Cast iron blocks like ours really can't handle the stress of a High HP turbo set up or even if you intended on going NOX. I could always do it the old hot rod way and make steel maincaps and also pour concrete into the blocks water jackets. But who knows aprox. how much torque and hp our blocks can hold out? I do not have the funding to find out myself or even the technology. Any input is welcome..

I don't see any reason why our block can't handle a decent amount of power. It's known to have taken over 500 whp without issue. If you really want to go nuts on power, though, chances are it'd be wiser (financially and logistically) to look into a 4G63 swap.

Cast blocks are quite tough, especially with Japanese metals... American casts are junk though... Usually the block does not fail, but the components surrounding it...

Im still convinced anything over 400 HP is never gonna see the ground in these cars.. No traction...

it already has, as otter stated, but in PR. turbotechpr was over 500whp, and that was back in the day. was built with miscellaneous parts(4g63 and whatever else he could source from or measure for,) but it was 100% built nonetheless. there are threads on here, and a magazine article, albeit in Spanish IIRC, written about the car in an import magazine.

and +1 on the HP issue, your drivetrain would most likely fail before the block. again, IIRC, that was turbotechs problem when it was all said and done.

Talking about turbotech, he went through something like 3 trannys, retro has destroyed one, and so has ROL. So basically, worry about the tranny, cause the block will hold long after the tranny.

I can make some of my own trans parts. I build trannys in excess of 4000+hp. Mostly power glides, TH350s, TH400 etc... It isn't hard to make this transmission stand up to the stress and not that hard for traction. The biggest problem is tire contact. We can't fit big enough tires for the kind of power we can produce. No one has made any fend flares or anything. Someone tried to make a AWD conversion but it ended badly. I don't really want to invest into 4G63 because then it would be a cheap evo. Not my route. I may have to take some messurements and make some of my own parts or even talk with ROB to see what i can get.

so you have answered you own question then the tires won't let you worry about the block any time soon, unless you run without fenders
