Would you buy this RA?

Hi guys, new to the site but I have been reading up since I'm a prospective buyer. You're the pros so please tell me what you think. I'm on the verge of buying an 04 RA for 7k with 67k miles on it. One owner, seems to have taken good care of it. All stock, all new pads and rotors.

I have test driven it but I'm gonna give it a thorough technical exam tomorrow. Looking at things like detailed clutch feel, boots, oil color, etc.

My questions are these: Do you think this is a good deal? Also, what components of the car should I be checking out to make sure everything is sound with her? I would appreciate any advice I can get.

Make sure the 60k service has been done to it. It involves a timing belt replacement, so it's fairly expensive if you don't do it yourself.

Also, you're fairly local to me, which color is it? I swear there's less than 5 in the state. If you check out www.mievo.net you might find someone who knows the car.

Its red, with tinted windows. It's in Taylor which is a bit south of Detroit.

Any idea how much it would be if I had the timing belt replaced, and do the rest of the 60k maintenance myself (plugs, serpentine etc.)? I asked, he hasn't replaced it. I'm a mechanical engineer but I don't think I can deal with the timing belt on my own.

I would expect it to run around $400. Timing and balance belts run around $60 total, plus 3-4 hours worth of labor. As long as it still has the stock spark plugs, they'll be good until 90,000 miles.

Hey there man, I personally think that 7K is a lot of money for that many miles. Try to talk them down a grand or so if you can. Good luck and make sure your purchase makes you happy!

62k miles really isn't a lot for a 4 year old car (15k/year) and $7k is quite a bit below KBB.
