Flywheel issue on stage 3 clutch..?
Flywheel issue on stage 3 clutch..?
alright I have RRMs Stage 3 clutch in my car and it's been in there since January. Well I was in stop and go traffic last weekend and I noticed when I was shifting that it was getting hard to get in gear(The Slave and Master cylinders have both been replaced since January) It got to the point where i couldn't shift into gear at all! It was like I had to force it in and it kept getting worse..
So I keep it in 2nd gear on I-95 and pull into a rest stop..get it towed to the dealer and they wanna charge me $1565 dollars to put in a new stock clutch and replace flywheel. I said Siiiiiiike.
So I took it to my friends garage and a few days later he takes it for a drive and It is driving fine..shifting he said was no problem.
He tells me it could just be that I need a new flywheel..I never got that replaced when I put the stage 3 clutch in *just resurfaced*....O and the Mitsu dealer says our flywheels CANT be resurfaced. SOOO we're gonna order a flywheel and hope all is better. Sound like it's the flywheel though to all the experts out there??
Thanks!

try adjusting your clutch pedal, I had to do that to mines cause i couldn't get it into gear when I installed a new master cylinder...
If you look in the how-to's there a clutch master cylinder install i wrote up that also explains the adjustment of the pedal...

My friend at the shop finally took it apart and 2 of the forks on the clutch plate or whatever they're called were broke off.. (they look like teeth that surround the inside of the whole clutch plate) So I have to order a new clutch now and all this is gonna cost me $1425 cuz I'm putting a new flywheel also. I'm officially broke...:/
Just pay 4xx for the lightened one from RRM and 3xx for a clutchmasters, buy a stock throwout bearing and if you do it yourself, easy BTW, U can call Rob for the torque specs, and it wont get to a thousand dollars
