timing off?

i just recently started having some problems with my RA...the problem is when i come to a stop and i put it into neutral the rpms drop from about 700-800rpms to 400-500rpms and when it eventually settles back out its pretty rough. i checked the spark plugs and replaced them just to be sure, i checked the throttle body and cleaned it with some carb cleaner on a rag, i changed the intake filter, i also put in a can of dry gas in case i got some wattered down/bad gas, and im still having the problem. the only other thing i could think of is the timing is off. oh and also, does anyone know the gap spec for the spark plugs? cause the guys at the dealership told me 40 thousands but i dont trust my mitsu dealership over here they didnt seem to confident when they read me the spec, they made it sound like the were asking me if it was 40 .

thanks in advance guys

As long as you bought the correct plugs (NGK Iridiums), they're pregapped and never need to be regapped.

I think it's unlikely that your timing is off, unless you just had your timing belt replaced. Get some MAF cleaner and clean your MAF.
