Clutch "Knocking"???
Clutch "Knocking"???
Ok so i hade a new clutch installed and ever since it make a "knocking" sound sometimes. On harder launched in first. Higher rev shifts from 1st to 2nd. on downshifts as well. like a "Dunk dunk dunk" sound. any ideas as to why?
it normally comes from the flywheel, I believe a lot of us had it on our stock flywheels. I have it now and I'm on a remachined flywheel and mines is really bad. You'll just get used to it after a while.
This is assuming that the "dunk dunk dunk" sound is indeed what we're thinking of.

well its not only a sound but the whole car feels it. like with every dunk is a chug feeling like as if someone whoes just learning stick and is aabout to stall lol.(i am a very seasoned stick driver lol)
Is the weather cold where you're driving? I've heard that in the cold our car's transmission (clutch/flywheel and all) tends to do this a lot.
Its just starting to get cold where I live but so far I have only experienced this a few times. Either way I'm pretty sure its a normal thing for the RAs and not a severe problem, but that's just from what I've heard from other people on these boards.

yea but the weird thing is that this happens all the sudden after i get a new clutch? even though ive never drivin it any different in two years? the same thing happenes to my girl friends hyundai accent but only while starting in 1st and that started right after a new clutch too...
I would assume you had your flywheel machined down and stepped, so that lightens the flywheel thus making clutch chatter more likely?
Change your driving habits and it'll go away, that or get used to it. Unless you want to buy a new flywheel, but that may or may not gaurantee getting rid of it.

nothing was ever done to the flywheel. all that was done was a clutch swap along with some other work due to an accident. (new front half axel, hub spindle etc, rear control arms and trailing assembly, rack n pinion steering.)
