It's clutch chatter and/or possibly a loose engine mount. Check your mounts to ensure they're tight.

it normally comes from the flywheel, I believe a lot of us had it on our stock flywheels. I have it now and I'm on a remachined flywheel and mines is really bad. You'll just get used to it after a while.

This is assuming that the "dunk dunk dunk" sound is indeed what we're thinking of.

Is the weather cold where you're driving? I've heard that in the cold our car's transmission (clutch/flywheel and all) tends to do this a lot.

Its just starting to get cold where I live but so far I have only experienced this a few times. Either way I'm pretty sure its a normal thing for the RAs and not a severe problem, but that's just from what I've heard from other people on these boards.

Then it's just clutch chatter, get in the habit of slipping your clutch less. Changing your driving habits a bit will get rid of it.

I have it as well, I have learned how to avoid it for the most part.

I would assume you had your flywheel machined down and stepped, so that lightens the flywheel thus making clutch chatter more likely?

Change your driving habits and it'll go away, that or get used to it. Unless you want to buy a new flywheel, but that may or may not gaurantee getting rid of it.

nothing was ever done to the flywheel. all that was done was a clutch swap along with some other work due to an accident. (new front half axel, hub spindle etc, rear control arms and trailing assembly, rack n pinion steering.)

um... you should have had the flywheel resurfaced when you installed the new clutch... its standard procedure......

the sound might be from the new clutch not mating up smoothly with the un-machine flywheel...
