I know this has been covered before however... I was just at the dealer getting the 36'000 kilometer service done.
The guy was telling me my car needs a major service and should have the transaxle fluid changed. I think he's full of the smelly stuff.
According to the maintenance schedule, major service isnt till 48'000.
I just had an intermediate service done at 24'000 i think.

Am I wrong, are they just trying to sell me something?

Trans fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles/48,000 KM, so yeah, the guy is full of it. It's also, by no means, a major service. It's as easy as, if not easier than, changing engine oil.

hey my car has 44,000 miles on it and i drive my car here and there. i called my local mitsubishi service department to get a oil change and trans fluid change but they told me for a manual tranny i dont need to do the tranny fluid change until about 60- 80,000 miles.

is that right?

depending on if your going with regular or severe service intervals.
