Vibrations/Click Sound (different from others)

So instead of trying to jump into the other two threads that are on here about clicking when turning, I decided to start this one since mine is a little different.

Nobody really wants to look at my car without me signing something in order for them to charge me for the time they spend figuring out what's wrong so I'm posting here to get some advice first.

Basically, I get a click sound when I make tight turns either left or right BUT when I let off the throttle or put it in neutral (still making the sharp turn) the click goes away. I also get a slight vibration / shake between 65mph - 80mph.. above that I can feel it but not so much, below that it's smooth. The vibration/shake doesn't happen all the time, only when it feels like it from what I can tell. The vibration/shake doesn't go away if I let off the gas or put it in neutral and while I'm braking it seems to get slightly worse.

Could this be two separate problems? I tried seeing if there is wheel play while lifting the car up but it's solid as a solid. CV Boots are not torn and I can't see anything down there that might be worn out. Someone told me to check the U Joint / Shaft to see if there is some play there but I don't know where it is or haven't lifted the car high enough to really get down there and check.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

one problem I had what that my fender liner in front of hte tire was blowing back due to the wind when at higher than side road speeds.. So like at 30mph it would blow back enough to rub against the tires when i turned... Didn't find out the problem till it started wearing into the plastic.

^doesnt explain why pushing the clutch affects the noise.

Yea I guess... I was going by the fact that the vibration/shake was still there. The clicking i don't know about...

Is the clicking fast and does it increase with cornering speed?

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, the clicking speed gets faster or slower depending on the speed I am traveling.

Hmm, that kind of sounds like the issue I'm having as well. Nobody has been able to figure it out.

i have an issue of huge amounts of play in my wheel bearing. every time I went over a slightest bump it would click. but since you don't have play in your wheels, I'm not too sure

Hard to judge play in a bearing....but one thing I have seen in the past is that clicking while turning usually means CV joint...so I would start there.

I started there too but the shop said the boots have grease and are not ripped. Someone also told me that if the clicking stops when I let off the gas or put it in neutral, then it can't be the CV joints. They said the clicking should continue regardless of what the transmission is doing. I'm no mechanic but that makes sense to me from what I know.

Thanks again for the replies.

well.. if the cv joints are loaded with a force from the transmission, it may bind only when loaded. even if the boots are fine, the joints themselves internally may be bad...

I would take a close look at your wheel bearings. When load is applied (torquing the wheel with gas) would increase and decrease depending on speed. Also When in "N" it could possibly go away. Not all bearings make noise all the time. Sometimes only when under load. Also a CV boot not torn doesn't mean that it is still good. Grabbing the tire and trying to make it move isn't a very good diagnosis unless it is wasted. Take a Stethascope and turn the wheel to see if you hear anything abnormal like crackling. Let us know whatever you find.
