Front end vibration help
Front end vibration help
K guys... Need some advice. I am experiencing front end vibration at highway speeds and can't track it down. Car has been aligned after replacing outer tie rod ends a while back. It improved it some but eventually came back. I have also recently replaced the wheel bearings. I am not really seeing any play in ball joints or inner tie rods... If I am accelerating hard, I don't experience any vibration until I let off, cruise at speed, or brake. You can kind of hear a whirring sound, which is why I chose to replace the wheel bearings... Nonetheless, it's causing wavey inner wear on my front tires, both sides. When doing a pull and then braking aggressively, it shakes pretty violently from higher speeds. Could it be warped rotors? Bad wheels? Inner tie rods? Bad alignment job? Even cv joint related? Thoughts...?!
05, 86k miles, teins on mr bilsteins, stock mr wheels
Also, when normal dd... I can hear a single faint click when shifting or backing off/getting back on the throttle... Cv joint? Motor mount?

have you tried balancing the tires? or seeing if one of them is bent?
when you say highway speeds thats typically where vibration happens,
its possibly you spat a wheel weight and all of a sudden now you get that vibration
and if your tires are at the end of their life, could be a shifted belt or just need to be changed -- also keep in mind you have an awd
all 4 tires should be the same brand and make as well as be within 2/32nds of each other-- want to make sure everything is in sync so nothing is binding aka tcase transmission diff -- want them all spinning at the same speeds
click sounds like a front c-v shaft -- check to see if the boots are ripped or either axle is spinning the grease out of it
my passenger front had a very faint click to it when i started out, after replacement no more click
if both cv shafts look good -- replace the front mount with a blox that will stop engine travel when boosting -- via the guy who posted above me -- good mount for the money
