2004 Lancer Ralliart performance...

I have dual exhaust coming out both sides in front of the rear tires and the evo 8 wing, with vented hood, with hood pins and vortex generators, so I have the cosmetics about where I want them. I'll have pics soon so you can make your comments but now I'm looking to get this car some good horsepower. What should I start with that won't blow the engine? I did the nitrous... but umm we all know how that ends up, so I got a new engine and about to put a cold air intake on it... if I turbo the car will I ahve to upgrade anything else in order for it not to blow again? Any ideas will be appreciated.

Proper engine management is always a bonus. I'm almost done the reflash for the turbos - after which you will see me develop a production kit. I've already made a few manifolds for them and they're performing well.

to be honest i would stay away from rippmods... there are a few "unhappy" customers here, with motors literally catching on fire. But than again that could have been a fluke. there are a few happy customers with there supercharger... but EVERYBODY who turbo'd there lancer hasnt had near as many problems as people supercharging it. So i would say go with RRM for there turbo, or if money is an issue, just go custom.

you should take a look at RRM (RoadRace Motorsports). They got plenty of mods for the engine and handling. I'm sure you will find something. They got from the basic CAI to the full turbo kit.

Best suggestion in this thread.

I would start with things like; Header, exhaust, clutch/ flywheel, LSD, intake manifold, ect.

You know, if I were to do do it all over again, I would seriously consider going the SC route...just to be different. LSD, I know the guy you were referring to (the on fire guy), and even he said it was linked to a faulty install, not the RIPP product. In the RRM kit, you still have to tap into the fuel line for the 5th injector, so there's still that install "risk" too (FWIW).

To the OP, if you're looking for straight-up horsepower substantially beyond where it is stock, FI is your best bet. If you want a fast car, FI or NA can do that (for NA, see SSP's threads). Internals for turboing...well, how much power do you want/money do you have?

I have spoken with the owner of Rippmods about what he does. I've also seen what he's doing. Although I don't like their engine management what he does is good quality. It's hard to crap on a nicely CnC'd set of brackets and a properly sized blower. I think if you knew the background on the car that caught fire you'd know it wasn't a motor literally catching fire and not because of the kit.
