Clutch problem or transmission problem...

So a few months ago I had some knocking in my engine, pretty faint sound didn't really think too much about it. It would only do it every now and then. But within the past 2 weeks the knocking has become pretty loud and in every gear. If I am just at a dead stop and i'm in neutral it will knock at a slow steady pase, but when i push the clutch in it will gradually stop then pick up again when I let the clutch out. When I go through first and second gears it is the worst and down shifting. Any ideas on what it would be? Thanks

Is there a better description of the sound?

First guess is to check all 4 engine mounts, see if one is broken.

the sound has progressed to a squealing noise along with the knocking. One of the four motor mounts broke in half... think the front one cause when the jacked the front end up my right tire wouldn't rotate without shaking the engine when it was in neutral.

Could be either the front or rear mount. IMO, replace the mount, give everything a quick inspection to make sure it's alright, and see if that fixes the problem. Replacing a mount is much easier/faster than the clutch.

Ok the results are that it was the release bearings. When they took it all out it wouldn't even spin soo thanks for the advise!! But mitsu charged me 600 bucks to figure that out, so all in all i will spend about 865 bucks... eeeeek. i hate dealerships lol
