The difference between the short shift with counterweighted knob vs. standard is night and day... Well worth the money. I tried the standard knob with the short shift to see how much of a difference it would make: for me, the difference was LARGE. Muuuuuuch better with the counterweighted.

Update: CAI installed, RRM under drive pulley installed, clutch damper bypass RRM installed. Result is a snappier rev., a bit more power, and an easier to feel friction point on the clutch. Also did rotors and pads a few weeks ago. Axis ultimate in front, red stuff in back.

One thing that helped me bleed the clutch was to Jack up the right rear tire. Fluid seemed to work out the bubbles faster and easier.

Looking at suspension mods next. Got my eye on some Megan coilovers at the moment.

I do care about emissions. I don't mind the minor hp loss if it cleans up my emissions. I'll make it up the hp and then some down the road.

Had a timing belt changed out by a mechanic. (should have done it myself) I now have vibrations as described in this thread:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/04...vibration.html

I'm giving the mechanic one more chance to right his mistake before tearing into this thing and doing it myself. I'll find out Monday.

I've got a bit of driving to do over the weekend, but I'm wondering....

Can this problem damage my engine?

if the timing is off, even a little, yes it can dmg your engine.

the longer it is off, the greater the dmg will be, IMO you should try to find another means of transportation for the weekend

Refering to this in the thread listed above...

It's possible to have the balance shaft off. Rotate everything to TDC then shove a screwdriver into the balance shaft access port on the front of the engine. You should be able to stick it in 2.4". If you can't, then it's out of phase.

How do I set everything to TDC? I have a RRM pulley.

Does the balancing shaft/belt (or whatever it is called) have anything to do with timing? I thought the timing belt did that...

I got my catback put in today. Magnaflow muffler with 2.5" pipe, and a blue streak resonator.

For comparison info, I took a before and after video.

No Resonator Video: 2.25" OBX header and downpipe with Magnaflow #45005 high flow cat welded in the downpipe. 2.5" catback, muffler is a magnaflow, but I didn't get the model number off that one. Stock rubber hanger mounts. 3" dual wall tip.

With Resonator Video: all of the above + a "blue streak" resonator model #621825.

I was shocked at how much difference the resonator made. I wouldn't run without one with this particular setup.

I also took some pictures.

Videos are on the 2nd page FYI.

Also, there is some engine vibration that isn't normal that you will hear in the exhaust noise... also a small ticking noise. I'm taking it to another shop to fix these issues right now.

More Updates to come.

Edit: balancer belt issue fixed. Vibrations and ticking problems solved.

After driving on this exhaust setup for awhile, I have noticed a drastic improvement in performance. The stock muffler and possibly the stock resonator were restricting quite a bit of airflow. Now that I have CAI/Headers/DP/HF cat./HF resonator/HF muffler, everything feels much more responsive.

The gains you're feeling are pretty much all from the DP and HF cat, and a bit from the larger pipe diameter. The stock resonator and muffler are actually straight-through designs and not restrictive.
