How deep is the MAF adapter pushed into the filter? If there is too much piping in the filter, it won't pick up sufficient air, which would explain the engine choking. I had a similar issue when I first installed my RRM CAI.

So did you just take a hacksaw to your original airbox to separate the original MAF tube from the box?

im using the stock maf as well with my SRI. and i just so happened to have the metal wire mesh filter. not a spectre but its an AR brand. haha

at first i would get the CEL as well. after removing it and installing it again and resetting the ecu by unplugging the neg on the battery for ten minutes and then letting the car just idle for 5 minutes then taking it for a drive, i didnt get the CEL anymore and havent gotten it in almost 2 years.

Does it sound any different? I am thinking of doing this but doing a 45 degree silicon coupler to get the filter behind the fuse box.

yep it sounds were the car eats air well it sounds the filter and u feel were the car gains power

u can just turn the tube its plastic so u can make it 45 degrees without any coupler just put something so that can stay in that position like me u can see it in the photos
