does it happen when going in a straight line also? if so it may then be your wheel bearing or your cv joint if not both...

yes, my issue sounds similar to yours Jabl3s

I have some decent audio equipment, later I will try to get a recording of the sound and post it up here to verify it's the same you guys are hearing.

here is a link to the sound file:

listen closely. the louder noises are probably me hitting the microphone when I turned the steering wheel, but the CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK is the noise I'm talking about.

WHERE do you buy new CV halfshafts for these cars?
it used to be a problem for the normal auto parts stores to get ahold of remanded or nrew cv's for our cars but you can check you local autoparts store now and days, they have updated alot of stuff for our cars that they never had before.. i should say that have added more common parts for our cars... best to start there. they can also source junkyards they use for such items.

i think otter stated above it may be time for new strut bearings. if they seize up they will start to rotate the springs and youll get a type of clicking sound as well as pulling in the steering from a result of the springs being wound up by turning and still having load in them.. PITA. but and easy fix non the less.

at the top of the shock assembly there is a diff type of bearing then im sure your used to but non the less still one and it can seize.

This bearing lets the spring rotate as you turn and not bind up.

i dont think we have confirmed that thats what the problem is( strut bearings), if it is though, not much can happen all its gonna do is affect your steering a bit. but no long term dmg would come from a few months like that. its not going to lock out your steering or anything like that it would just pull alot one way after you make a u-turn or somthing if tension gets stored from them being bineded up a bit but you can fix it by turning the other way until you hear the spring pop back to norm.

CV's can go a wile with a hole in the boots or kinda messed up they just need a bit of grease to keep them going. the only way those can fail is if the bearings inside the drive cups explode and come apart witch would not alow the power to be transferd in the drive cup. but once again no long term dmg unless you wreck or somthing but it wouldnt be anything violent just a horrible metal noise. and grease everywere.

find out what it really is first before you go buying parts. it could be somthing totaly different then what we have talked about.

this whole spring being wound up and relieving tension and popping back into position description seems, and sounds, to be right on the money..

if it's clicking even when the vehicle is stopped, it might be your valve lash might have to be adjusted. make sure the sound isn't coming from the valve cover.

my clicking only happens when it is cold out and I think it has to do with my RRM LSD either having too much play in the planetary gears, or being assembled improperly.

Others of you may be getting the clicking from the regular diff not having the backlash within specs.

but the above cases only involve the vehicle when in motion

Other possible causes is the clutch bearing gone bad? drive belt tensioner going bad or other components of the drive belt making the noise? timing belt tensioner?

I can't access the sound file, so I can't say what it could be. but make sure it's coming from one area and not echoing off another.

my coilovers used to do that.. they would go... *boing*boing*boing*boing* and after a big low speed turn the springs would be still somewhat wound in the direction of the turn, so it would pull a bit to that side
