E85 Fuel

Hey guys,

I've been seeing Evo owners and even the new ralliarts making the switch to E85 fuel. Can this be done on our cars? And is the fuel only beneficial to turbo cars? Or could it benefit ours? I would love to find this out!

Thanks for any info!

It's a waste of your time if you aren't running forced induction or/and high compression...

+1 stick with regular gas, IF you do switch over you will only spend more money on gas and see no gains.

Alright, thats what I kinda figured. I don't plan on going the turbo route with my ralliart. Well maybe later on since I plan on keeping this car for a long time.

Thanks for the replies I'll just stick with my E-free 93 Octane then haha.

you put 93 octane in your car? i thought that wasn't necessary for our cars, even with minor bolt-ons

Are you sure it has no ethanol in it, or is it E10 93 oct?

Yea its ethanol free. The station advertises it, and its on some website. And its def e-free because I have tried other gas from other stations and it kinda loses hp. Well according to my butt dyno haha.

you can do it. If you do you will need to replace the o-rings on your injectors and your old rubber fuel fittings because E85 will eat away your old worn out ones. And i wouldnt do it unless you have something to tune off of. I have my talon running on E85..ill never go back to pump gas, but like mentioned earlier in the thread your not boosted so there wont be as big of gains for you..

Not necessarily. You don't need to replace them unless your car is like 19 years old, like your talon.

my 2 cents, from what ive heard on the radio and such is that e85 gets 15 percent less fuel milage, so do the math, unless the price is more than 15 percent less than regular, u are wasting money. Around here (tax hell called wisconsin) e85 is cheaper, but not by 15 percent. Just keep switching brands till u find one that your car likes. Mine was addicted to mobil gas for awhile, but seems to have lost its taste for it. I think its kinda like how guns seem to shoot real well with one particular brand of ammo, and just shoot ok with all others. I recently took a trip down south where the only place you can get corn alchohol is from a still of a moonshiner, and not in the gas. it took a few days but my car seemed to like the straight up gasoline they enjoy down there. expecially the shell brand.

good luck
